| Personal History | Janie was born the eldest of five daughters to Edward and Cres Weston, both pastors in the Church of Christ. They lived in an old estate in England without modern conveniences, much as their ancestors had done centuries before them. Her parents firmly believed that technology would bring about the end of the world. As she was educated at home, it wasn’t until Janie was a teenager that she became fascinated by Starfleet and the possibility of being able to fly through space. When she joined at eighteen her parents didn’t speak to her for two years and even today they only accept letters from her as a form of communication. Their relationship remains on rocky ground. At the academy Janie muddled her way through, she was shy and not used to the technology nor the amount of people had to deal with on a daily basis. She eventually decided that she loved children the most and changed her career to one of teaching. After graduation she was assigned to the USS Hiroshima for two years and the USS Tolstoy for another two. Nothing much of consequence occurred in her career until being assigned to the USS Juno. There she met the Executive Officer and fell in love. After a brief but intense romance, Janie wrote home to her parents who were horrified that their daughter had fallen in love with a Trill and cut off contact with her. Unfortunately Jane was reassigned to the USS Archimedes and she had to part ways with her boyfriend. After serving for a year she was able to transfer to his new assignment, commanding officer of the Aurora class starbase, New Haven. |
