| Personal History | Born to a Federation Diplomat and a Starfleet Engineer, Gabriel spent the first 12 years of his life as the only child on his mother's starship. As he grew up he read a lot and spent time helping out in engineering, becoming known as "The Engineer's Mate". During his first assignment on Starbase 205, a section of the station's hull was sabotaged. Gabriel did what he could but couldn't keep the forcefields active. He watched as 37 crewmembers were jettisoned into space, an event then nearly broke him mentally. This event left him not only with mental scars but also a scar on his right hand and arm from where he punched a ragged section of bulkhead in grief. For the next few years Gabriel lost himself in his work, regularly working double and even triple shifts, sleeping only due to exhaustion and staying away from as much contact with the crew as he could. Recently he has been able to control his PTSD and has become less prone to locking himself away while not on duty, though he still tends to overwork. |
