Mission:
[USS Ottawa] S1, E2: Empok Nor
Location: Captain's Private Mess
Timeline: 05/21/2394, 1130 Hrs
Dom was the first to arrive in his mess hall. He sat down at the table and poured himself a glass of water, while he waited on the other three to arrive. He had just wrapped up a meeting with Sarah, and was still concerned about her. But at the moment, he needed to see how Colonel Sheppard was recovering and how his sister was taking it.
Ellie walked in with her brother and Jazin.
"So, John, how are you recovering?" Ellie asked. She was trying to be nice. They hadn't had much contact since they joined the marines. Both had their own ideals and thoughts about things. And there were times they couldn't get shore leaves at the same time to visit their parents. So it was hard to actually get together and they never really had a bond. Just a mutual understanding.
John shook his head. "You know I didn't want you to go that far, starfleet could've send anyone but you had to get involved, hadn't you?" He smiled. "In any case, thank you sis. You held yourself well out there, and as I heard you commanded your own ship before. I must say I am impressed." He then looked over to Jazin. "And who do we have here, is this your latest conquest?" He said teasingly and playfully punched him on the shoulder. "She is a handful, isn't she?"
Jazin laughed and glanced at Ellie, who was grinning. He nodded. "It's been a great ride alright. Full of surprises." He laughed. "Still. Wouldn't trade it for anything." He took a second. "Jazin Ijaan. Just call me Jazin or Jaz."
"Nice to meet you, Jaz," Said John, "I am colonel John Sheppard, but you knew that already. Call me John. And you.." He turned to Ellie. "You better take good care of this guys or else I am coming over to what ever end of the universe you're getting to on this boat to kick your ass, you got that, sis." He smirked.
"Yes, sir!" Said Ellie.
John then walked over to Dom who was sitting at a table. "And I believe I got you to thank as well, for coming to my rescue. Captain Martinez, pleasure to meet you!"
"My Pleasure Colonel, but Ellie deserves all the credit. I just ordered the Ottawa, to Cestus III. She did all the work." Said Dom, feeling damn proud of his first officer. He was concerned at first having her on the mission, would be a liability. He was happy to be proven wrong.
"Well, either way, my thanks and appreciation for every part you had in this." John said. "Have seat sit, sis, just because you declined command this time, doesn't mean you don't deserve a seat at the command table." He grinned pulling his sister next to him. "And you Jazin. Keep my sister sane." He laughed.
"John?" Said Ellie. "Don't embarrass me, I can do a fine job at that myself." She pushed John.
"Ellie will make an excellent CO, but at the moment, I would like her to stay on as my first officer, you see John. She is set to retire once we rescued you." Said Dom, trying to think, who he would get that would even come close to Ellie's level of commitment and dedication. Dom noticed how much she seemed to love it, being the first officer again. Maybe its because, she knew it was a short time. And to end her career on a high note.
John turned to Ellie. "Is that so, sis?" He raised an eyebrow and then shook his head. He took her hand and said, "We're marines, what could possibly have you to quit now. You don't quit until you get that General star on your collar, do you hear me sister?"
"What is worth more then a star?" She asked John and then looked to Jazin and took his hand. "I don't know if I would have done it differently or if there was any other way. We barely made it out a life, the life lost unacceptable. I almost lost Jazin." She sighed. "I have seen too much, I don't know if I could bare loosing another crew." She looked a moment to Dom. "But I will stay with Jazin, if he wants to stay, I will stay." She then turned back to Jazin.
"Sound like the Colonel has placed her future in your hands, commander." Teased Dom, with a small witty chuckle in his voice, as he looked over to Jazin. He knew Jazin wanted to stay. Deep down, he had a feeling that Ellie did too.
"That's good. Because I've been giving that a fair bit of thought. Granted it did feel good to be out in the field. But that's beside the point." He began. He looked to everyone in the room. He grinned.
"And seeing Ellie's devotion to John has made me realize something. I would do the same for her. I consider her family. So I feel now is a good time for this." He turned to Ellie. "I want to stay. And John, with your go a head." He smiled. "Maybe become your brother in law, John. What do you say, Ellie?"
John looked over to Ellie and said to Jazin, "You're good company, and I am pretty sure Ellie can handle her own. Wouldn't want it to be anyone else. Well, sis?"
Ellie was speechless, she didn't expected this to happen. He always did things to please Ellie, and Ellie had a hard time figuring what he wanted and now he was actually doing it. She looked him in the eyes. "I just want to be with you, forever, so yes." She threw herself in his arms. "Yes!"
Jazin just embraced his new fiance. Happy tears running down his face
"Congratulations you too." Said Dom with a smile. He was happy for them. Deep in his mind, he was a little envious of them. This was a joyous moment for the two love birds and for the crew.
"I agree," said John, "Congratulations. So I got a little shore leave right now, before I am assigned to my new command. So would be damn nice to be here for the wedding." He grinned. "What on Earth will you wear?" He asked curious.
Ellie just kept leaning against her softy crying fiance. "Oh the wedding, it can wait for a moment, I want to savor this moment." She sighed and smiled satisfied.
"Take all the time you need, Colonel." Suggested Dom, as he reached out to shake Jazin's hand and Ellie's. It was his way of saying congratulations again again.
Jazin smiled and nodded as he took his COs hand. He gave it a hearty shake.
