Mission:
[USS Ottawa] S1, E2: Empok Nor
Location: Corridors
Timeline: MD+4, 1630 Hours
Avril was on her way back to the bridge area, when she noticed a young lady walking towards her, she appeared to be wandering the corridors. She was not familiar with the young lady, but that did not mean much. There was over 853 personal now living on the Juno. Avril decided to be friendly and introduce herself, in a playful manner. "You seem lost or you're exploring." Stated Avril with a big grin on her face.
"A little of both." Kerja answered, coming to a stop. Was she someplace she wasn't supposed to be already? She brushed her hair back and looked up at the woman. "Is that okay?"
"But of course it is, Miss?" Asked Avril. She never understood why people thought roaming the ship was a bad thing, it was something that Avril liked to do on a regular basis. She was very curious, if she had time, she would have offered to take her on a tour, but in less than 15 minutes she had to return to the bridge.
"I'm Kerja," She gave no last name. There was no reason this woman would know it.
"I am Lieutenant Avril Taylor but you can call me Avril or Avi if you want." Suggested Avril with a big smile on her face.
"Okay." The name meant nothing to her but she hadn't seen a ships manifest either. "I'm just visiting my dad, might be staying for a bit, I'm not really sure yet. Do you work close to here?" It was what Kerja thought was a polite way to ask what her station was.
"No my station is on the bridge, I am just strolling the corridors at lunch time, trying to get familiar with the Juno, most of the time, I sit at the helm inputting coordinates for her." Said Avril as she wondered who she was a guest of. Only one way to find out. "Who are you visiting?" Asked Avril.
Harry hadn't said she couldn't tell anyone. "Captain Anderson." Kerja replied. "Turns out he's my father. Surprised both of us. And my mom's not around at the moment." Kerja didn't mention that she'd been kidnapped. "So he's letting me stay here for a while."
"It's nice to finally meet the Captain's daughter," she said with a smile on her face. He did not tell anyone that he was a father. "What do you think of the ceremony, first I take it?" She asked, after she adsorb the fact, that the captain, had a daughter, and she was the one responsible for putting the pip on his collar. If she had to guess, Kerja's arrival was not planned. Maybe this is why the captain did not talk about it, or why he was on DS9 for a while earlier.
"That was a little nerve wracking. I generally don't like being in a large group of people. And then I had to give that speech and had about two hours notice."
"Your Bajoran, I assume you have some custody arrangement," she asked, wondering why she had not seen Kerja with the captain before? She should mind her own business. But she was a noisy person.
"Until we find my mom." After that Kerja didn't know what would happen.
Avril was not sure, what she mean't by that. But she was not going to press the issue. "Welcome to the Juno, if you ever need anything, let me know." She said, as she started to think, about the fact that the poor girl was all alone and her companion was a father, by her last response. It sounded like she was being here against her will. She felt bad for her.
"Thanks, I'll be all right. Just need to find my way around. No better way than by exploring right? And if I get lost I'll ask someone." Kerja smiled at the woman, it had been nice of her to offer. Everyone had been extremely nice so far. Kerja wasn't used to such friendliness, not that the Bajoran's weren't friendly but as part of their species they expected her to act a certain way and Kerja had been raised among humans with only her mother for a Bajoran influence.
"Enjoy your walk, I should be getting back to the bridge before we arrive at New Bajor." Said Avril. She did not want to be late coming back from lunch break.
"Okay. Thanks!" Kerja said, watching the woman walk away. She supposed she could have been a bit friendlier but she was still getting used to the idea of having a father, living on this ship until they found her mom at least. Kerja refused to believe that her mother was dead. She tried not to think about it too much. Meditation sounded like the right thing to do tonight. She walked off in the direction she'd come thinking that if she could find her quarters she'd start doing that immediately before the emotions could overtake her.
