Janie yawned, she liked her job, really. But it did have long hours and she was grading papers an hour or so after her shift ended. She glanced at the chronometer and thought she needed to start moving around before she fell asleep. A chime at her door was a welcome interruption. "Come in." She called, not knowing who would be on the other side.

Bervag was sort of nervous. He'd never thought about this, but here he was. He entered with a smile on his face. "Hello, Janie." he said.

A frown crossed her features slightly. "Did we have something planned? Did I forget?" She checked the chronometer and then looked down on herself. She was wearing her uniform which wasn't exactly dating clothing. She could run to her quarters and change but she really didn't remember planning anything and didn't know what to change into so she waited for his response.

"No, not a plan, although I do have a surprise in the works." he grinned. "But to the point. It may be Bers talking but If I remember right you said something about liking to swim?" he asked.

"I do," a smile instantly burst forth at the suggestion. Honestly it never occurred to her to think about whether she'd said something like that or not. She got to her feet instantly, leaving the PADD behind her on the desk. "What a wonderful suggestion. Umm, just let me run by my quarters and I'll grab my suit."

Bervag grinned. "Sure thing!" he said.

"So," Janie asked curiously. "You can communicate with Bers? You know what are his thoughts and what are your own?" She felt like this was a difficult subject to approach and didn't want him to be uncomfortable but as a non Trill she was merely curious.

"Kind of. Like Dr Bashir once said. Like two networked computers running the same program, or something like that." he smiled

"Hmm, okay." She fell in step beside him. "At least you get along. How terrible would it be to be joined with a being when you didn't like their personality but were stuck with them for the rest of your life?" She walked the rest of the way to her quarters in relative silence thinking about the last time they'd been together on the holodeck and how quickly she'd completely dropped all inhibitions with him.

He nodded as they walked together, not counting on the silence. He'd have to fix that on their little excursion.

Janie entered her quarters, making sure Bervag followed her. "Do you want something to drink or eat while you wait? Im just going to slip it on under my uniform."

"Thank you." he said. "But I'm fine." he grinned.

She nodded, "I'll be right back then, make yourself comfortable." Janie entered her bedroom and started undressing as she dug her swimsuit out of one of the drawers. She slipped it on and then put her uniform on over the top of it and grabbed a small handheld bag to put a towel in. "Okay," she said coming out. Janie flipped her hair down and began twisting it into a bun and securing it with a couple of pins. "Ready." She said finally straightening and smiling at him.

He smiled back. "Lets go." he said, allowing Janie to exit first. He then lead her to holodeck one. "Computer, begin program Bers recreation 1." he said. The computer responded with the usual *Enter when ready* followed by the metallic hiss of the holodeck doors. "Ladies first." he said. Ha followd Janie in to a holodeck recreation of a beachfront that Bervag remembered from his youth on Trill.

"What do you think?" he said.

Janie took several moments to take it all in. The beach had medium brown sand, the dark purple water was lapping up against the sand occasionally leaving looking interesting pebbles in front of her. She looked out over the water. "It's beautiful she finally told Bervag. I wish I was actually here." She stripped out of her uniform right where she stood. "Is there anything in the program I need to worry about stepping on, or eating me if I go in the water?"

"Nothing like that!" he chuckled. "Come up and say hi more than anything else," he said, stripping to his own trunks. He just left his uniform in the sand. Beautiful he thought when he saw her.

Janie was standing with her toes in the water when she heard his answer. She stepped carefully out further, her body getting used to the temperature of the water and the way it felt on her skin. Then she suddenly dove in when she was about waist deep and swam nearby, treading water. "Nice," she said. "Water is pretty warm for an ocean."

"Glad to hear it!" he grinned.

"So you spent your childhood on this particular beach? Or is this just somplace you wanted me to see on your planet?"

"Yes to both." he grinned. "Close to where I grew up." he replied. "Wanted to show you." he grinned

"Well next time I'll return the favor and show you Montana." Janie didn't even feel like doing anything other than treading water once she was completely in the ocean. It seemed like a waste of scenery to just swim back and forth like in a pool.

"I'd like that." Bervag said He facepalmed. "Computer, add 2 beach chairs."

Janie suddenly wished she'd brought a swimsuit cover up, but she could at least wrap the towel around her. "Is it general warm here? Do you ever get winter? Sorry, asking lots of questions but I've never been to Trillius Prime."

"More or less "comfortable" in this part of the planet." he grinned, pleased that she wanted to know more. "Different climates, weather. All of that." he smiled.

"You know," said Janie as she slowly came out of the water and pulled the towel out of her bag to wrap around herself. "I've noticed you aren't much of a talker. Is it me? Am I talking your ear off? Or are you just naturally that way?"

Bervag turned red as a beet. what came out next was unfiltered. "I get that way with people I'm falling for." Bers screamed at him That's my host! He turned redder, not knowing how Janie would react.

Jane felt a surge of something she didn't know how to identify. It was like adrenaline but much more pleasant. She laughed nervously, blushing some as well. "I had no idea I had so much power over you." She had taken a step towards him without realizing it. She moved her toes back and forth in the sand, creating a little barrier so that she couldn't move forward again without thought. "I really like you too, but whatever this is." She pointed back and forth between the two of them. "It's also sort of scary . . . I mean it's only been a couple of days and I can barely control myself around you." She flushed even redder at the admission.

He nodded and took that in. He thought about what she had just said, and he put on his best smile. Good. At least I know she likes me too. he felt his stomach acting weird, and he knew it wasn't Bers. He told him so."I hear you. I get the scary. But I also feel sort of at ease with you. Like we click somehow." he said.

"Yeah, and it was there instantly. I've . . . never experienced that before." She took a deep breath and held out her hand to him. "Sit, let's talk."

"Lets." he agreed., walking with her over to the beach chairs

"Do you mind if I ask you some personal questions?" It was the kind of thing she never asked this early in relationship but it felt like the right time as both of them were being sucked into whatever this was at a high rate of speed.

"Shoot, Anything you want to know." he smiled.

"Okay, well, when was the last time you woke up next to someone?" She blushed as she asked but she was too curious to pass it up.

"Me, relationship wise. I haven't." he blushed. "I'm not counting bunkmates and the like but that was the Academy. And family." he went on and on.

"Really?" Janie looked at him aghast. "But you're so handsome. I would have thought you'd have your pick of women honestly." Her eyes followed the spots up the sides of his legs and along the side of his torso before she realized what she was doing. "Sorry, that was really none of my business. I guess I was just checking that someone else wasn't going to come breaking down my door and say that you were hers. Believe it or not I've had that happen."

He blushed at the word handsome. He liked that word. And normally she'd be right. He nodded. That's not to say there weren't offers. the thought. He chuckled at the "breaking down the door." comment. "No danger of that." he smiled. "and no harm in asking. It's just previous Bers was married and I was joined as I was just starting my adult life so my head was spinning in the relationship department then. Bers finally calmed down though." he laughed.

"Oh I completely understand . . . well not really as I'm human but I can understand that it must have been completely confusing for you." Janie looked down at her hands and pretended to be digging sand out of her fingernails. "What does Bers think of me?" She asked, glancing back over at him.

"You could say he and I are if one mind on the subject." he laughed. "Trill humor." he smiled. "Seriously though. When I said I was falling for you. If he could've patted me on the back, he would've. He said, and I quote "That's my host!"

Jane smiled. That was good to know. At least he wasn't rolling around in there making Bervag sick whenever he came close to her. Without thinking she got up from her chair and draped herself next to him, putting the towel over the top so she could put her head down on his chest.

Bervag's expression flashed to surprise, then a warm smile as he relaxed. That was unexpected to him. But he wasn't complaining. He relaxed his body and just went with it, looking out at the sunset.
