Janie had an extra bounce to her step all the next day. Her students might have noticed a particular cheerfulness to her demeanor, she couldn't deny it if they asked. Not that she told them the reason. She smiled as she pressed the button to Bervag's personal quarters. Janie was wearing a long wrap skirt of sky blue and a while blouse. "Hi," she said when the doors opened. "Are you busy?"

Bervag lit up when he saw Janie. He was dressed in Olive shorts and a blue button down shirt. "Not at all!" he said. "Won't you come in?" he offered.

"Sure," she said, suddenly feeling somewhat shy for some reason. She'd never been in his quarters before. She stood there by the door, looking around. "Nice quarters," Janie said quietly.

"Thank you " he replied. "Can I get you anything?" he offered. "Love your outfit by the way "

"No, I'm fine." She looked down at herself. "Thanks." Janie gave Bervag a small smile. "If you don't have plans this evening, I thought I might steal you if you'll let me." She looked around his quarters as she waited for his answer. There were several photographs in frames. Janie assumed one of the photos must be of his parents since he looked a lot like them, spots and all. The others she didn't know, but they were similar in age to Bervag, friends. There was also a keyboard in the corner, she might have to ask him about that at a future time because he was speaking and she turned her attention back to him.

"Was going tp just hang around here to be honest. What did you have in mind?" he asked.

"Well, you showed me what Trill was like so I thought it was my turn to show you where I grew up. I won't torture you with simulations of my sisters though, I promise. Just the town, maybe a little sailboat ride on the lake?"

He grinned. "I'm in!" he eagerly said. He'd been interested in Montana since that night in Nemo's, and was itching to see it. "Sounds great!"

"Okay. Do you want some time to get ready? Might be a bit chilly on the lake with the wind blowing." Janie smiled down at his bare legs below his shorts.

"You'reprobably right." he chuckled. "Give me a few minutes." he smiled. "Feel free to look around." He went to his bedroom closet and started to strip his shorts in favor of boots and cargo pants, and a fleece pulloverover his shirt. He debated grabbing a jacket

Jane moved to the sofa and sat down, picking up one of the picture frames for a closer look. He looked happy, Bervag, amongst his friends. She couldn't help but smlie back at the younger man, thinking how handsome he was and wondering what the rest of the spots looked like as they ran down his body.

He started to tie his boots when he saw Janie looking at his old academy photo. He just grinned as he walked back out. He wondered if he should say anything. So far she'd done all of the talking. "Ah, graduation." he said. 'Ahh...memories. Those I have a lot of" he chuckled. "Seriously though, great time." he smiled.

"I was never really close to anyone at the academy. My roommate and I were too different. I suppose that's a shame." She shrugged, looking up at him. "Ready?"

"Ready Janie." he said, he grinned. He was ready to go. On the one hand to see Montana, on the other for Janie. He'd let her do all the talking, he'd decided he'd do some of his own on this excursion. He'd develpoed feelings for Janie, and he'd developed the courage to actually say so. "Lead on." he said, cheerfully.

She smiled back at him and got up from her spot on the sofa. The turbolift ride and the walk to the holodeck were fairly silent despite Jane trying to come up with things to talk about. Bervag seemed content to just be quiet however. Figuring she had nothing to lose she reached for his hand on the turbolift and held it as they walked to the holodeck. Janie started the program and they entered onto an idyllic scene, a small concrete launch ramp the extended into a greenish lake next to a dock where a single sail boat was tied.

Bervag eagerly took Janies hand as they walked together. "Beautiful scene." he said, surveying the area. He tested his limits and put his arm around Janie's shoulder. The recent switcheroo had taught Bervag a valuable lesson in "seizing the moment". He walked with her to the boat. "Beautiful, just like you." he said, complimenting the woman he was falling for. He kissed her on the cheek. He grinned.

It took Jane a minute to realize what he'd said. A surge of electricity went through her body when his lips touched her cheek. She stopped walking and stood there staring at him for a moment. It had seemed so completely natural when his arm went around her that she hadn't even thought about it. But now that she stopped she realized it was the first time he had ever made any sort of move towards her. She blushed slightly. "Look at you, suddenly compliments and kisses." She wasn't sure she was ready to tell him but she was pretty much his, unless something drastic scared her but she hardly thought that Bervag was the type to take advantage.

He nodded. "I know right?" he said, helping her into the boat. Feeling free as he did so. He surveyed the scene, and he felt immediate relaxation. He smiled as he started them off and got in himself, almost falling in the water. He breathed a sigh of relief as he saved himself. He looked at Janie, deciding right there that she was the woman for him.

"Are you all right?" She was trying not to laugh and managed to only have a big grin on her face. "I'm glad you didn't go in, that water is cold." She looked up at the rigging. "Do we want to row or sail? Being a holodeck I can increase the wind."

"I'm fine." Bervag grinned. "I say sail. We can control the speed, and gives more time for us to be together." he said.

"Alright then, just keep on eye on this, the boom. I don't want it knocking you overboard. I know it's a tight squeeze but maybe just hunker down a little bit. Computer increase winds by . . . ten knots." She untied the boat and they floated away from the dock. "We can check out Wild Horse Island."

"Sounds great to me." he smiled.

"Of course it does," she teased. "You get to sit there and stare at me while I do all the work. I'm onto you." She pointed a finger at him.

"You've got me, Officer." he smiled. "I admit it."

"To be honest, not the typical male response I was expecting. Most guys would have wanted to row the boat around the island for an hour to show me their strength and stamina or some such nonsense. But you . . . are letting me lead for some reason. True, you don't know how to sail probably. Still . . . I haven't completely figured you out yet. Kind of driving me mad." She smiled. "Anyway, Wild Horse Island it is. If the winds will grace us with their presence and direction."

"Lets hope so." he smiled. "True on the not knowing how to sail. But always open to learning new things." He was enjoying himself, growing ever more confident. He didn't know of it was T'Meelas remnant in Bers or what but he felt calmer somehow. Which added to what he was feeling. He wasn't knocking it, however. " Plus didn't want to take a chance with the oars, I almost fell in you know." he smiled. Bers laughed

Janie let out a fit of giggles. "I see. Well at least you are honest! I greatly admire that in a man." She eyed hims curiously. "Can I ask you about Bers? How many lives did he live before you?" She remembered how Bervag had acted when they'd first met, she'd gone overboard with the symbiont questions but Janie honestly had a mind that craved knowledge.

"I'm the sixth." he said, honestly wanting to tell her. "The only one that joined Starfleet, the rest were civs. With..shall we say..interesting lives." he laughed. "Crazy scientist. Lawyer, Husband, and Artist." he grinned.

That was only four but it didn't matter. "What made the scientst crazy?" She asked, tightening the sail a little bit. They were getting close to the island now.

"He was one of those "Shut in, involved with his work" types. He didnt get out much." he laughed.

"There's a house on this island. I guess there used to be a caretaker here. There aren't any horses, just called that for some reason. Anyway. The house is centuries old and they decided to preserve it. Something for people to look at I guess. I mean I love history, I just wonder why this building, what's special about it. Just naturally curious I guess." She smiled warmly at him. "Do we want to go all the way around the island?"

"We can. Or we can make it an adventure. See what we can see." he said, returning the smile.

Janie steered them close to the Island so that when they sailed around it they could get a good view. "I used to pretend I lived here as a kid."

Bervag nodded, a smile coming to his lips. He imagined young Janie running around, pretending. "That must've been fun." he said, interest piqued.

"Yeah, with three younger sisters and divorced parents I wanted a more glamorous life I guess." She shrugged. "Anyway, then I joined Starfleet, so much for glamorous." she chuckled. "What did you dream about as a kid?"

"Honestly, being a holonovel writer. Little me would daydream stories about random people he saw" he laughed. "Then when I slept I was like this big important writer with holo-novels all over the place." he grinned. "I swear."

"Aww, that's a wonderful thing to dream about. Why didn't you ever write one?" Then a thought occurred to her. "Maybe you and I should write one together. What genre were you thinking of?"

"Mystery." he blushed. "Dont know why. It just sounds right."

Janie turned her head and gazed at him. "Why are you blushing, I think it's a great idea. If you want some help or want a writing partner, I'd love to collaborate with you on it."

"You would? That's great!" he smiled.

"How about we finish our tour of the Island then we can go back to one of our quarters and talk about ideas?" Jane asked grinning.

Bervag grinned back. "I'd love that." he said.
