Mission:
[USS Shanghai] S1E2: Encounter in the Abyss
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 05/14/2394, 1600 hours
T'San was looking in a microscope looking at dna sequences. She just he setting when her daughter walked in. T'San didn't look up. She just continued working, she was really focused on her work. She took up a padd and made some notes.
T'Meela took a deep breath and then asked, "Mother, do you have a moment?"
T'San turned around and put her notes down. "Of course, we can sit in my office if you like."
T'Meela nodded and followed her mother to her office and they took a seat. "What can I do for you, my daughter." T'San asked while taking the seat opposite of her.
"Ever since I rejoined with my own body I feel, I feel everything. I think Bers left something behind. As have I on him. I feel sad and I miss him. And I know that's strange, because I am Vulcan. I know you want me to be Vulcan, in control of my emotions. I don't know if I can anymore." T'meela was trying to hold back her tears.
T'San walked over to her daughter and took her hands. Her face emotionless she looked to her daughter's face. "T'Meela, I always knew this might happen. You were so different from your brothers. I think you melded with Bers, I never thought it was possible, but it makes sense since trill symbionts and Vulcans are both telepathic. He must've awakened something that was always there. Your journey is a difficult one my child, one I can't take with you."T'San then nodded, you should talk with your father. He can help you better then I can."
Bers was working in his office, glad to be back in his own body. He walked over to his replicator, intending to rder himself a coffee. He was surprised by what came out of his mouth "Vulcan tea." he found himself saying. He flashed a puzzled look, but went with it. He sat and began to peruse status reports.
"T'Meela does good work. Very concise " he said. He was going to make a note of that in his remarks when he got a splitting headache, followed by just a General weak feeling. He just knew that it had to do with their recent episode. He just sipped at his tea. That worked for a few minutes, but it got to be worse. He grabbed his head, New memories, which he assumed were T'meelas came through. He just decided that a trip to sickbay was in order.
Entering after a short turbolift ride he called out "Hello?" he called out.
T'San and T'Meela were still in T'San's office when they heard the first officer calling out. T'San got up and walked out of the office. "Yes commander, can I help you?" She asked.
T'Meela looked trough the glass window of the office and looked to the commander. She didn't have all the memories of the symbiont, for they remained with the symbiont. But somehow she did remember the connection with the symbiont. She got up, but remained in the office a bit doubting if she would come out.
"Oh. Hello m..Doctor.he said, almost slipping. He took a deep breath. "Just the person I wanted to see. Could you give me a quick examination?" He said, keeping sort of tight lipped. "I was in my office just now and I just got hit by the weirdest feeling. Like I've never felt before."
"T'San grabbed a tricorder and scanned the commander. "What kind of feeling, commander?" She asked. She pushed some buttons on the tricorder. She didn't find anything wrong. Both host and symbiont appeared to be in perfect health.
"I don't know. It was a sequence of things. I went to order a coffee. My mind said coffee my mouth ordered a Vulcan tea. Then a splitting headache."
"Ah, well, it's possible you're mind is getting used to the new situation, I am sure it will subside. Any other things, maybe emotions from your symbiont?" She asked. She prepared a hypo spray with something for the headache. She knew the mind meld would leave both T'Meela and Bers not without it's effect. The mind meld wasn't done the conventional way, and she wasn't sure how the symbiont's effect on her daughter works out, or even how her daughter effected the symbiont.
"Now that you mention it, it does seem that are new memories. I assume T'Meelas. Her feelings durion the switch. Is that what's going on?" he asked. "The switch constituted some kind of mind meld? I've never heard of one with a joined trill before."
T'San looked a moment at the hypo spray and then said, "Well, let's just say it like this, her mind what is your body and your symbiont being telepathic, I think it works that way. She left a part of her behind, and it did something to her as well." She turned around and looked over to her office. "I've never heard of it either. But there were unusual circumstances. What's more, my daughter never performed a mind meld with anyone before. I always thought her studies more important."
T'Meela was still in the office looking at the two of them.
Bervag nodded. "Did something to her?" his voice showing concern. "Is she okay?"
"Physically she is fine, like you." Said T'San. If you want to know how she is, why don't you talk to her?"
"Sounds logical."he said. He looked around and saw her in the office. He smiled at her as T'San administered the hypospray. Which brought it down to a manageable level. "Thank you." he said. He walked over into the office. "Hello." he said.
T'Meela had followed him in to the office. She dropped back on her chair. "Hello, commander," She replied back. "Are you alright?" She asked, looking concerned.
"I will be." he managed a smile. "Your mother says. How are you holding up?"
T'Meela looked away a moment. She didn't know what to say for a moment. And then walked to him and put her arms around him. "No, but I hope to be alright soon." She said. She had no idea how to explain to him, how empty she was feeling right now. She missed Bers. She may not miss all those memories. But she missed having him around. The connection they had, was very special. And she wasn't sure if she could do without.
He nodded and smiled. "Your mom mentioned something happened earlier." he smiled. He hadn't expected the contact but went with it. "You want to talk about it?"
She let him go, "Well, I feel so weird ever since we got back our own bodies. I am glad to be myself again. And not having all those memories. I just feel empty and lost. And not just that, I feel...emotions. It's not bad. It's just new for me."
"Ah, I understand." he said. He replicated a couple of teas, handing one to T'Meela. "What kind of emotions?, if I my ask
T'Meela took the tea. "Thank you," She smelled the tea and then said, "Well, for one thing, I feel jealousy towards you, and strange as it sounds I feel a care for you. I care for you deeply." She sat down. "It's nothing romantic, but I feel this deep connection. Something real familiar, like a brother. If that makes sense. And in regards to my emotions, I feel them all." She put her tea on her mother's desk. "As a Vulcan I was able to control them somehow, but now it's like I have no control over them anymore." She couldn't take it anymore and even though she tried, she couldn't hold back her tears. "And I miss, Bers," She cried out.
"And he misses you." he said, throwing a reassuring arm around her, sensing that she needed a friend. He wasn't a trained counselor, but he did have a pair of ears. "And I understand what you are going through, because some of your memories are within Bers as well "
She leaned against Bervag. "Thank you." She dried her tears. "I was thinking about embracing my emotion. My father could help me. I'm hoping we could stay friends. Being this close to you, makes me feel a bit close to Bers. "
"I'd like that very much." he smiled.
