Mission:
[USS Shanghai] S1E2: Encounter in the Abyss
Location: Messhall
Timeline: 05/14/2394, 1400 Hours
T'Meela got up from the table and walked to the kitchen to meet with her father. She walked in to the kitchen. She saw her father in her body and he was stirring in a pot. If only she was so passionate about cooking as he was. During her time away from him, that was one of the things she was missing. Her father's cooking. She loved her father very much. Even though she kept saying she rather remained on Vulcan and tried to be more Vulcan. She somehow envied her father often, unlikely for a Vulcan, but still. He was the one who was no Vulcan at all. He was passionate, and emotional and somehow had it all balanced out. She hoped to find out what his secret was.
"Father?" She announced herself.
Dan turned around and looked at Bervag, but he knew it was his daughter. "T'Meela, come in. Have you eaten yet?"
"Yes, father, I had lunch with Commander Bervag a moment ago. I had your poached salmon. It was good as usual." T'Meela smiled.
Dan smiled back at her and then turned to the pot in front of him.
T'Meela put Bervag's hands behind his back. She looked down the body she was occupying. "Father, how can you just keep doing what you're doing? If it weren't for Bers, I am not sure I could remain so calm and focused as I am now."
Dan took a spoon full from the pot and tasted it. He then took the salt next to the pot. "No, you want to know how can I be so balanced with all my human emotions." He put some salt in the pot and then turned around. "My daughter, I am still a Vulcan, and it wasn't easy to reach this level of balance. Vulcan emotions are hard to control. Not many did what I did. I wanted to feel the emotions, the passion. Despite your grandparents teachings. I didn't want to be an emotionless man. And to maintain this level I do have to meditate. But you know, my life has been much more interesting since my decision. I wouldn't change a thing." He tasted his cooking again. "Beef stew! We're having beef stew for dinner!" He suddenly announced. "You know, T'Meela, I am surprised you never asked me before. I may not be able to help you in your quest to be a good Vulcan, cause I am not that trained in controlling my emotions like your mother does. But I think it takes a great deal more of actually allowing your emotions to surface and keeping them in check."
T'Meela thought about that a moment. She always assumed that her father was more human then his dna indicated. But she never thought he might actually be controlling them trough training, focus and meditation. She was taught that Vulcans aspire to rise above their emotions. And here was a Vulcan that actually embraced his emotions and was able to control them.
Finally she asked, "Have you talked to her yet?"
Dan turned down the stove. "Who? Your mother?"
T'Meela raised her eyebrow. "No, Lieutenant Taylor. Isn't she occupying your body?"
"Daughter, I have been busy cooking, people are asking for my cooking. And I am sure Lieutenant Taylor has her own duties to look after." Dan said. He took a metal lit and looked at the reflection. "I never looked so much at my reflection in my life. I just still can't believe this actually happening."
T'San walked in to the kitchen. Dan smiled to his wife. "Honey could you watch my pot for a second, I have to go get something from the fridge." T'San walked to the pot. Unsure what to so, but she would look after it till her husband would return.
Avril walked into the mess hall, she noticed several officers looking at her and then looking at her body. She was a little freaked out seeing her body cooking. Avril was a terrible cook, but the person occupying her body was clearly a pro. Chef Dan, was an amazing chef. "Hey, me or Dan, I suppose, not sure who or what we are suppose to call each other." She said, still trying to come to reality on this nightmare plain.
T'San looked to Avril. "Ah, miss Taylor, it's me, Doctor T'San." She put the lit back on the pot that Dan put next to it. Are you feeling alright?" She looked to the backroom where the fridge was located and then back to Avril. "Dan is in the back getting some things. But if you were here to check on your body I can tell you I am taking good care of it until your return."
"No I am not feeling well, Doctor. Nothing about this is right. I need something to eat. I think that will help." She said, looking at the presentation of food, and grabbing a few items from it.
"My husband would say, food is always the best medicine. I intend to agree." Said T'San. "The right kind of food in the right quantity of course." She then continued, "I don't find the situation ideal either, Lieutenant. How do you think my daughter must feel?" She pointed to T'Meela who was in Bervag's body. "Or my husband, being in my daughter's body. But I am working with Lieutenant Jexen to get this resolved."
"It's a pretty crazy day, I can not wait to get my body back, I hope Lieutenant Jexen succeeds in her mission to find a way to reverse this, you want Dan's body back, I want mine." She said, as she walked over to the table to sit down and eat. She was struggling through this. She wondered how T'San was handling it so easily.
Dan walked out from the backroom. "Ah, lieutenant, in here for some lunch. He put the stuff he was carrying on a table nearby. He looked to her. "From the looks on my face, you could use some dessert with that. And maybe..." Dan took a bottle of wine from under the table and opened it. "A glass of this." He poured her a glass. He put the glass next to her plate. The man maneuvered the teen body as if it was his own. It had taken him a whole hour to get control of the small and short body. He wanted to so he could continue his work in the kitchen.
"No wine for me, but lunch looks amazing." Avril said as she took a plate of food and took a seat.
