Mission: [USS Shanghai] S1E2: Encounter in the Abyss
Location: USS Juno
Timeline: 05/14/2394, 17:00 Hrs

Orson was escorted back to his quarters, his eyes shielded. The lights were getting to him. So when he entered the quarters he just turned the lights down and sat on the bed he had been provided and tried to sleep. That proved impossible though. His head began to hurt, and he didn't know why. He could hear well, everything. Two people talking about something called a holodeck. How one person loved another. And many more. It was like a dam bursting, he'd never felt anything like this before. "Aaah" he screamed as he slumped on the bed.

T'Meela was walking trough the hallway to the quarters of their guest. Her father prepared him a meal and asked T'Meela to bring it. Maybe he would feel better if there was someone to talk to that was more his own age. The Security officers posted outside were aware of the arrival of food so they allowed her passage. She pressed the door chime and waited. She heard a scream inside and the security guards looked to. They opened the door and they saw Orson laying on the bed. She looked to the guards and nodded it was alright. They left and closed the door behind her.

She put the food on the table and she walked to the bed. She could tell his telepathic abilities were betraying him. He probably didn't go out much. His own people could probably shield him. "Hi, Orson is it right. I am T'Meela, my mother is T'San, the ship's chief medical officer and second officer and my father is Dan the ship's chef. My father made you something to eat. Do you need any assistance, do you want me to call my mother?" She spoke out her thoughts so he wouldn't get them in his head. "My mother can block your telepathic abilities if you allow her. At least it would be more quiet." She continued and then felt silent so he could respond to her.

Orson looked up at the girl, and the food. He was overjoyed to see both. It smelled wonderful. And he was excited to have company that wasn't brandishing a weapon. "Th..thank you, T'Meela." he managed to stammer out.

"Ehm...you're welcome." She said. "And thank you, for getting us in our own bodies again." She looked around. "Why is it so dark in here. Did you want to go to sleep or something?" She wanted to turn the light back up, but then stopped and looked at Orson. "You live in these kind of enviroments? Minimal lighting?"

"Glad I could help. Even in some small way." he said. "And yes. It's all I've ever known. The brightness hurts, I don't know why." he looked off to the side. "Maybe your mother can help there." he shrugged his shoulders.

"Oh, I see," Said T'Meela, "Do you want me to call my mother for you now?" She continued to ask. She couldn't help but be fascinated by him. He was different from everyone her age she knew. Also he seemed to know nothing beyond his own world. All this was new to him.

"Maybe later." Orson said. 'That food smells too wonderful at the moment. Thank you so much for bringing it." he smiled. "It is appreciated. It's good to see someone friendly." he smiled.

"Oh yea," said T'Meela, "It's chicken soup. It's an earth dish." She explained. "Ehm...Captain Anderson is from Earth. I am from Vulcan. Where are you from?"

"All I've ever heard it called in the homeworld, or the palace." Orson said. "They didn't let me out much that I recall.'

"They say you are a horrible race of people, that you use your telekinesis and telepathic abilities against your enemies. Your people have killed and enjoyed it. But you are different. Were we wrong about your people?" T'Meela asked bluntly.

"That's my grandmother." Orson hung his head down. "She has a way of getting what she wants. By any means necessary."

"Oh that's why you ran away." Said T'Meela. She pushed the plate to him. "Eat, you'll need it. I could tell you all about us. The Federation and starfleet."

He ate a spoonful of soup and nodded. "It's very good, thank you." he said. "And could you, please?" his eyes lighting up with interest. "I would like that."

T'Meela nodded. "I am not quite sure about the entire history, but what I do know is this. The federation is a cooperation of many civilizations in the Alpha quadrant. Which is about 90 000 light years from here. It is very far away, but the technology we have and the discovery of a stable wormhole it is possible for us to travel here." She explained. The main fleet is Starfleet. And our headquarters is located on Earth, as that is where the Federation was founded."

"The federation and starfleet, as their military organisation, are friendly people. We are explorers first, seeking out new life and new civilizations, which we hope to befriend. We hoped to have that with your people, but your people attacked us."

"Befriend?" Orson asked. "You only wanted to be friends" I am sorry." he said. He felt sad. He didn't know why they were attacked of course, but he felt responsible. "I'll be your friend." Orson said, that last part slipping out. "And maybe I can see this Federation?" he said. He took a mouthful of soup.

"We are going back to the Alpha quadrant when we rescued Kerja's mother," Said T'Meela. "I believe we are heading for either Empok nor or DS 9. Those are great places to be and you get to see how the federation works. A lot of species make stops at those stations. We had to fight great wars in the area to get it safe." She looked at him while he was eating his soup. She put her hand on his. " Thank you, I want to be your friend too. You are not responsible for what your people did. You are still too young to be taking on that kind of responsibility. And from what I can tell you probably didn't know what was happening. But you are helping us now. So we will help you." Still a bit hazed with after effects of being in the commanders body, she smiled.

She could feel her emotions coming up bit by bit. But she tried her best to keep them under control. But she still couldn't help but feel attracted somehow to him. And she knew he probably noticed as he had no lit on his mental abilities. She didn't know how he would respond to that.

Orson grinned back, feeling something he had never felt before. He nervously grinned. "Thank you. Very much." he nodded his head. All he knew is that moment felt right.

"You're welcome, Orson," Sait T'Meela. She picked up the cup and handed to him. "Have something to drink." She offered.

"Sounds nice." he said
