Mission:
[USS Shanghai] S1E2: Encounter in the Abyss
Location: USS Juno
Commander Bers had just finished chatting with T'Meela and had just got up to leave when the splitting headache reasserted itself, in spades. He quickly grabbed onto a biobed to prevent himself from falling, with little success. He looked to T'San, his mind going fuzzy. He'd only felt that way once before, and he hoped it wasn't the same feeling. He righted himself to a wobbly stance, but It was clear gravity was getting the better of him. "Doctor..I" he stammered out before falling face first onto the deck, out cold.
T'San turned over to the commander, but she wasn't feeling that good herself. She blinked as she saw the room spinning around her. Everything blacked out. She wasn't able to reach a biobed and just fell down sideways on the floor again.
T'Meela was in the office. She looked out and saw both her mother and Bers collapsing, while the room around her was spinning as well. She tried to grab hold of he chair. She fell down as everything blacked out.
Kimoni stepped out of the sonic shower and walked into her bedroom. She took the bathrobe that was sat waiting on her bed and put it on. She sat at her desk, glad to be able to hear Jexen again. Though she'd had only been separated from the symbiont for a short time, she found she felt lost without them.
She picked a PADD up from her desk, her arm feeling weak as she brought it to a read position. A wave of nausea hit her and her head began to spin, seconds later her head fell forward onto her desk.
Kerja was so happy to have her body back she took it for stroll and desperately tried not to think about what it had felt like to be in her father's body. She rounded the corner when a wave of dizziness hit her. She clawed at the wall before her body collapsed onto the floor and she lost consciousness.
Janie put her hand against the wall of her quarters. She felt confused and light headed. She sucked in a deep breath and just as she reached for the comm badge on her chest to declare a medical emergency she collapsed and was out cold before she hit the floor.
****
---10 minutes later---
T'San woke up and looked around. She wasn't in sickbay. She was in someone's quarters. And she was wearing a bathrobe. And there was something new inside her. She put her hands on her stomach. Then she looked in the mirror and saw Kimoni's face look back at her. She took a deep breath. "It appears we aren't out of the woods yet." She looked to her stomach again. "I know, Jexen, I don't like it either. Maybe we should go find this Gilmo dude and see what he can do about this." She gently petted her stomach. She remained calm and she felt Jexen at ease a bit. Jexen was already happy it wasn't Harry again.
T'Meela opened her eyes, laying faced down on the floor. The room slowly came back to normal. She pushed herself up and noticed something wasn't right. She could feel Bers again. She looked down. Somehow she felt relieved, but it also meant something had gone terribly wrong. She turned around and saw her mother laying behind her. She looked to the office. She knew her body was there. She crawled over to her mother. "Mother?" She gently pushed her shoulders.
Kerja came to on the floor. The carpet squished against her face. She blinked. Had she blacked out again from another anxiety attack? She couldn't remember having one. She pushed herself up and glanced around. These weren't her father's quarters. Kerja looked down at herself and nearly screamed in frustration, she was someone else again.
Something was cold and it took Janie a moment to open her eyes. She shivered and reached for the covers that weren't there because she wasn't in bed. Her eyes became wide the moment she realized she was no in her quarters. Even waking up in Bervag's quarters would have been far better than being where she was . . . . which she realized was in the middle of some corridor on the ship.
Bervag picked himself off of the floor, and felt lighter than he was. He hesitated to make any assumptions, he just rose to his feet. I'm still in sickbay, that's something. Then again, I woke up in sickbay last time too. he thought as he started walking to find T'San, only to see her lying face down on the deck, and his body pushing on her shoulders. He caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror surface. "Guess it happened again. Couldn't have been a male this time I suppose." he chuckled, seeing T'Meela starting back at him. He got her hair out of his way and walked out of sickbay proper.
Painfully, Kimoni rolled over and stared at the sickbay ceiling, "Not again." She said, somehow unsurprised to hear T'San's voice.
She slowly sat up, her head spinning as she moved. She saw Bervag knelt next to her. Though the haze she remembered hearing something as she was waking. What was it? ...
"T'Meela?" She asked, her voice still a little shaky.
T'Meela looked to her mother, which she now realized wasn't exactly her mother. 'Yes, it's, T'Meela." She heard Bervag's voice. She looked back to the office. She got up to check on her own body. She didn't know who to expect. If it was her father or not.
In the meantime T'San had opened up Kimoni's closet, while suppressing the memories somehow. She took one of the uniforms and took a clothes hangar to hang the bathrobe on. She put Kimoni's badge on and then made her way to sickbay. T'San tried to maintain her Vulcan self. But it was harder then she thought.
Bervag nodded as he heard his body indicate that T'Meela was there.Well. That's one mystery solved. he thought to himself. He took a deep breath, to calm himself down. T'Meela dud mention to him about her emotional state. He walked over. He waved. "Commander Bers" he id'd himself.
T'Meela looked to Bervag. "Commander?" That was a turn of events she hadn't expected. She walked over to him. She put his hands on his belly again, as she felt Bers roll inside of her. She touched his face as she felt tears coming from his eyes. "Sorry," she said. "I am a bit overwhelmed with emotions right now." They were a bit mixed as well.
"No need to be sorry."Said Bervag, tears streaming down his own face. It was a lot to take in. He'd lost Bers twice now. Body switched into two young girls, surpressing the urge to freak out. It was rough. "Excuse me." he said. He slid sown a nearby wall, sobbing
T'Meela forgot to consider Bervag's feelings for a moment. She walked over to him. "Bervag, Bers is here, we will find a way to solve this for good. I am sure my mother will make sure of that." She took her own and put it on his belly. "You can sense his presence close. We vulcans are telepathic. He can link with you." She said smiling.
He looked up. "You can do that?" he asked, navigating through a mixed bag of emotions. "I'm sorry, T'Meela. It's just a little overwhelming." he half smiled.
T'Meela shook her head and said, "Yes." She held her hand on his belly. "Just close your eyes and just clear your mind and let Bers in to your thoughts, he will do the rest." She said. She hoped that if he connected to his symbiont he would calm down a bit.
Bervag nodded and did so.
Kimoni stood up, watching the interplay between T'Meela and Bervag before tapping her Commbadge. "T'San to Jexen." she said with a sigh, unimpressed that she once again had to 'call herself'
Hearing her frustrated voice T'San knew Kimoni was in her body. She tapped Kimoni's badge, "This is Kimoni, she answered. "Lieutenant Jexen, please remain calm, I am on my way to sickbay."
"Thank you. I get the feeling we'll all be here soon enough." Kimoni added.
Janie wandered into sickbay in Kerja's body. "What the hell is going on?" She demanded.
It took Karja a bit longer to figure out where she was and how to get to sickbay from Janie's quarters but she arrived a little while later with a big sigh. "So . . . something didn't work obviously."
"That's something of an understatement but factually correct." Kimoni said, doing her best not to let her annoyance slip into her voice.
"It would seem that Gilmo's repairs didn't go as any of us planned. I have half a mind to drag him back here by his ears and get it right this time, but given the fact it didn't work this time tells me the next attempt would go much the same."
"You're probably right. He's got some explaining to do, I will say that.' Bervag said, slightly calmer than before. He took a deep breath. He looked around the room. He just shook his head, trying to suppress freaking out, with marginal success
Kimoni walked over to Bervag and knelt beside him and placed a hand on his cheek.
"More then anyone I understand what your going though... when I first joined the crew you helped me now let me help you. Try to relax, we will find a way to fix this, even if I have to do it myself... I promise you that." She said, her voice as calm and serious as it had ever been.
Bervag nodded. "Thanks." he only said, calming down. He rose to his feet. He wobbled a little bit but righted himself. "Both of you."
Janie watched, a slight bit of regret washing over her that she'd come storming in here like that. She wasn't happy about the switch but at least she wasn't having as hard of a time as Bervag. She didn't have a symbiont to miss.
T'San walked on to sickbay. She walked straight to a trey with medical tools and took a hypospray, put something in it and put the hypospray on her neck. She put the hypospray down and rubbed her temples. She then turned around to the people present. "Right, Lieutenant Jexen you're with me, I want to solve this, and I want to solve this quickly. I don't know about you, but I would like my own body back." She then put her hand on her face a moment. "It's not Jexen's fault, she is doing her best. But those memories and emotions..."
"I understand it takes some getting used too, believe me, not sure i'm used to it myself." Kimoni said, "We have a log of Gilmo's "repairs" we could used that to try and find something." She added, as ready as T'San to return to her own body.
"Indeed, but I try my best to cope." She tried smiling a bit, which probably looked weird on Kimoni's face. "Anyways, let's take a look at those logs."
Kimoni nodded, brushed her hair behind her right ear and stepped over to a nearby console. She brought up the visual logs first, she watched Gilmo as he worked, She watched his actions and face closely.
"Nothing seems out of place, though as i said before we know nothing about this technology so it's difficult to tell from just this."
She folded her arms across her chest as she turned to T'San, still a more then a little weirded out by the fact she was looking at her own body.
T'San ignored the look on her face. "Well, then we have no choice, we must find the person that bought the device, maybe they can tell us what it is and what happened to it. I am sure they know more then this Gilmo person. He clearly doesn't know what happened to it after he sold it."
Kimoni nodded, her hands opening and closing in anxiety. She knew T'San was having problems with 7 lifetimes of memories running through her head at once but Kimoni's problem was she wasn't able to access them, She only had one mind, that of Kimoni Tral. She stepped over to a nearby Bio bed and placed her hands on the surface. Her shaking arms barely able to hold her weight as a few tears ran down her face.
T'San walked over to Kimoni. "Lieutenant if you can't do this, let me know I can take you off duty."
"Mother," Said T'Meela behind her. "You don't get it, do you?" Her mother turned around as she continued, "Read the symbiont."
T'San closed her eyes a moment and sighed. "Of course, I'm sorry, Lieutenant, that was insensitive of me. I guess I could preform a mind melt if you want, give you a telepathic connection with your Symbiont if you want." T'San offered.
"No, no thankyou." Kimoni replied weakly, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. She began to breath slowly. In...Out. In... Out. After a minute she stepped away from the bed held her head high, at least trying to look like she was in control.
"Thankyou for the offer but i doubt the link will be the same, I'll feel better when I'm back in my own body." She added before looking down at her uniform sleeves, "Oh I'm sorry about that i wasn't thinking."
"It is alright," said T'San remarking the sleeve. "I will get you a new uniform from my collection." she tried smiling to Kimoni. "Now, how about we go talk to that Gilmo?"
