Mission: [USS Ottawa] S1, E2: Empok Nor
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: 05/24/2394, 0900

The USS Ottawa had just docked with Empok Nor. Domingo had released the crew to enjoy a little R&R. However he had a couple of meet and greets to do. They were getting new crew.

The USS Ottawa was picking up another engineering officer, one that he had personally requested, on the behalf of Susan and Vance Patterson. Susan was his former captain, and he was a good friend of the family.

Typically Second Officers and Department Heads met the non department staff crew, but Dom wanted to make an exception, since her parents were long time friends with him.

Dom waited patiently as the time struck 0900 hours. And like clockwork the intercom to his door went off. "Come in." Simply said Dom, who was sitting up straight in his chair, waiting for Emily to walk in.

Emily was excited to see Dom again, but she kept telling herself, Dom is very by the book, call him captain, do not call him Dom. She had a personal past with him, simply platonic, more like a mentor or an older brother.

She walked into the ready room and went over to the desk. "Ensign Emily Patterson, reporting as ordered sir." She said. She knew she was suppose to report to duty with Gabriel Sharpe, her commanding officer.

"At ease Emily," he said, with a smile on his face. He continued on to say, "please have a seat." He watched as Emily took a seat. He thought to himself, it was great to see her again.

"Thank you Captain." She said, as she took a seat, wondering if this meeting was a social visit, or did he agenda for her? She was new to the ship, and she knew the crew just went on shore leave.

"Have you seen your folks yet?" He asked, knowing the USS Falco had docked with the station as well.

"Not yet Captain, I wanted to check in, and get myself acquainted with the ship." Said Emily, thinking to herself. Maybe she should have stopped by the Falco. Why would the Captain be bringing it up?

"Make sure you do, otherwise your Mother will blame me, saying I kept you to busy to see her." Suggested Dom with a grin on his face.

"Yes Captain." She said with a grin on her face.

"Once your settled in your quarters you will find Lieutenant Gabriel Sharpe in Engineering. Report to him, after your done reporting to him, remind him that his captain told him to go on shore leave. Don't worry if he blows you off, he does the same to me. But he is damn best engineer in the fleet. You will learn a lot under his guidance and leadership." Said Dom, thinking how is Gabe going to react to a new rookie.

"I'm looking forward to serving under him, he is a legend at the Academy." She said, with a grin. She knew she would learn a lot. She was eager to get out of the office and to meet Gabe, but that was rude she thought. You just walked into your older brothers office, and you already want to see the gifted engineering boss. She smiled inside and told herself to calm down.

"We will have to catch up soon, no doubt Captain Patterson will demand we all go to dinner on the Falco, I will see you tonight." He suggested, having a suspicion he was right about dinner plans with the Pattersons. He knew Susan well, she had become predictable to him.

"Probably true, and I guess I will see you later on tonight." Simply said Emily as she waited to see if Dom was going to dismiss her or talk a little more.

"We will have plenty of time to catch up. And you have a boss that needs to on shore leave, good luck Emily." Said Dom as he continued on by saying. "Dismissed."
