Mission: [New Haven] S1, E1: The Emissary's Return
Location: Glosia III, Royal Palace
Timeline: MD001 1500 hrs

Domingo beamed down with Sarah by his side. They were greeted by a man wearing a dark but elegant looking robe, filled with gems and small symbols. The man smiled as he approached Domingo and Sarah. "Welcome to Glosia, Commodore Martinez. I hope your journey to our planet was pleasant?" Asked Prime Minster Tal'Ki.

"It was." Simply responded Domingo. Wondering if the man was going to properly introduce himself to Domingo and Sarah. "I assume you are Prime Minster Tal'Ki?" Asked Domingo, as he reached out to shake the prime minsters hand. A tradition of earth culture, a sign of respect for a political dignitary.

"Good, good. Come we have a lot to discuss. Please join me for a mid day meal." Insisted Prime Minster Tal'Ki. He lead Domingo and Sarah down a long hallway. That was filled with statues and pictures. It was a pretty room. At the end of the hallway was two double doors. Domingo watched as a couple of palace guards opened the doors for them.

Inside the room was a big elegant table, filled with plates, cups, silver wear and of course items that reminded Domingo of Napkins. Domingo walked into the room. A servant seated Domingo and Sarah and the Prime Minster.

Around the walls was more paintings, and decorative drapes, hanging up. The room looked remarkable. Even more breath taking than the hallway, they just walked out of. "We will start off with appetizers, while we do, lets start with the big question. Does my government want to join your Federation?" Rhetorically asked Prime Minster Tal'Ki.

Sarah was served first, she slowly took a bite. A little sour for her taste. But she did not want to be rude. "It is the primary reason we are here. But I have to admit Prime Minster, that this palace of yours, is breath taking." She said, as she continued to look around the room.

"Thank you Commander Gillman." Said the Prime Minster as he went on. "This palace is a shinning beacon of our culture, but honestly its our past. We need to be looking at our future. My emperor knows if we are to rebuild our society, we need allies and protection. These are two things the Federation can provide to us." Stated Tal'ki, with a monotone voice.

"The federation is more than protection from your enemies, Mister Prime Minster." Said Domingo, wondering if the Glosians were really ready to join the Federation. He wanted to point out the highlights of the Federation. "We share resources, we explore the universe, and we strive towards the goal of bettering all life throughout the universe." He started off saying.

"Before we can think about exploration, we have to rebuild our society. Our government is fragile, still in it's infancy. We need a chance to establish roots, form a unified government and bring the Glosian people out of the shambles, we were thrown into during the Omega Crisis of 2383. It has taken a long time to find a new home, to unify what's left of the five political governments, and turn it into one unified government. Our priority Commodore is to the safety of my people." Said Tal'Ki.

The main course started to come out. Sarah smiled and thanked the servant. As she grabbed her eating utensil, she looked over to Tal'Ki. "I can appreciate your unique perspective, and certainly we can assist the Glosian Empire, get back on her feet. But I hate to ask the question, why would the Glosian want to join the Federation. A mutual defense pact, is also a possibility. Wouldn't your government have the same opportunity to naturally form on her own, without the Federation Assiance?" Asked Sarah. She was trying to get Tal'Ki to see that the idea of using the Federation membership, for defensive purposes only, would not be in his best interest.

"The Federation is more than a protection force, Commander Gillman is correct. You can achieve your goals with a mutual defense pact. The Federation is about ideology and striving for improvements, deep at your values, you are on that path, but as you said Prime Minster Tal'Ki, the Glosian Empire is still in it's infancy." Pointed out Domingo as he took a deep breath before going on.

"Our goal is the same as yours, Commodore. We just need more time to get there. But our goals are the same. To explore and get a better understanding of the universe." Suggested Tal'Ki. "Joining the Federation, will help establish our society. And allow our citizens a chance at striving at something more than they are. They will have a chance to become explorers, be good ambassadors and representatives of the Glosian Empire." said Tal'Ki, from the heart.

"Any Glosian seeking to join the Federation political structure is free to do so, same goes for any citizen wanting to join Starfleet." Said Domingo, as looked to see how Tal'Ki would take the news.

"My people would like that Commodore." Said Tal'Ki, as he started to eat from his main course plate. He was already declaring victory inside his mind.

"So how do you want to proceed Commodore?" Asked Tal'Ki with a big smile on his face.

Domingo was impressed with how well Tal'Ki spun that line. It was pretty good. "Then let's open official talks." Said Domingo as the scene starts to fade, with the three of them eating lunch and discussing the Glosian Empire joining the Federation.
