Mission:
[USS Ottawa] S1, E3: The True Way
Location: Quarters of Harry Anderson
Timeline: 06/02/2394, 1830 Hours
Harry was annoyed, all he wanted to do after a long day of battling the Crescent, was go home and relax. Instead he had to deal with his teenage daughter. She was causing havoc on the ship, and it needed to be stopped. Harry walked into his quarters and noticed Carly sitting on the sofa. Clearly she had been waiting for him.
She noticed Kerja was not around, Harry had a suspicion she was down in sickbay. "Kerja down in sickbay?" Asked Harry.
"How am I suppose to know." Simply replied Carly, annoyed that this man would ask her to keep track of a girl she did not know. They maybe half sisters, but as far as Kerja was concerned, she was just a stranger living with the Captain. Just like Carly, another stranger living with the Captain.
Harry was annoyed at her response, but did his best to hide it. "I'll check on her later then." Said Harry, as he walked over to the sofa. He looked over to Carly. "So you had an interesting day." Pointed out Harry trying to lightly go into the conversation. She was a child, not a starfleet officer. He feared being to starfleet like might, shut her down. Harry listened to Xalanth, about his approach, and how he got Carly to incriminate herself.
Kids were delicate, and a little arrogant. But that was okay. Harry needed to learn how to deal with Carly. And how to deal with Kerja as well. At the moment though, he gave the floor to Carly. He was curious on what her approach to this situation, was going to be.
"I just had a little fun." Simply said Carly, trying to hide the laughter she had inside. She was not mean, she was bored and everyone was ignoring her. She hated that.
"Your fun, caused my chief science officer to report to sickbay. And for you to arrested, and charged. Luckily Lieutenant Xalanth will not be pressing charges nor will Liuetenant Jexen, however you will be required to see Liuetenant Jexen tomorrow morning, at 0800 hours. And you will say you are sorry." Ordered her father in a stern tone.
"Why should I Captain, she was not harm?" Asked Carly, with a little bit of a chip on her shoulder. She was not sure why she needed to apologize.
"I want to make sure I understand you correctly, you do not feel that you need to apologize to someone for assaulting them, because she was not harmed?" Asked Harry, trying to get Carly to see what she did was wrong.
"That's pretty accurate." Said Carly, thinking she was about to pull a fast one over on the captain of the USS Juno.
"The bolites that penetrated Lieutenant Jexen skin, was an assault. Are you aware that you could be charged with a crime?" Asked Harry. His tone was more trying to scare her.
"But that's why your my guardian." Suggested Carly, being a little snarky.
"It's not my job to bail you out, if this is how you feel, then let me call Lieutenant Xalanth, and have you charged with assault." Suggested Harry. He was trying to scare her a little.
"Now that's not fair." Pointed out Carly, as she thought to herself, some looser father your turning out to be. She said with a deep sigh. How could he do this? Be an ass like this? She was trying to have a little fun.
"Nor was it fair, that you assaulted Lieutenant Jexen, you owe her an apology." Said Harry, looking at Carly, trying to read her body language.
Carly was still not sorry, but she did not want to be charged with assault either. "I will apologize to her in the morning." Said Carly, but thinking to herself. This was not fair. Why should she apologize? Kimoni was not harmed. She also thought her guardian the Captain, was over reacting. But most adults, tend to overreact.
"Thank you." Said Harry. He knew deep down that she did not mean it. But he hoped her facing her victum, would make her change her mind. And stop her from doing it again. He then went on to say. "I understand this is a new transition, and you may want to act out. But what I am having a hard time understanding is why did you assault Lieutenant Jexen?" Asked Harry.
"Will you stop calling it that, I just pranked her." Said Carly, with an annoyed tone. She felt it was not assault. It was a prank, and a funny one at that. She felt the captain needed to let up a little.
"I understand that's how you feel, but the question was why?" Asked Harry, hoping to get her to open up.
"I had nothing better to do, being locked up in that room, was no fun." She said, as she tried to shift the blame on Harry.
"You are not locked up as a prisoner, there are plenty of places you could have gone, on the ship." Suggested Harry. He was trying to get her to see, that she had other options, that did not include pranking his fellow officers on the USS Juno.
"Could have fooled me, Captain." She said, being a little defensive.
Harry wondered if she was upset, that he had been very distracted. Things were a little intense, with trying to rescue Kerja, and now with the issue regarding Tera. He looked to Carly, and noticed her body posture was very aggressive and defensive in nature. "I am sorry if you felt that way, it was never my intention." Harry said, letting tone sound more pleasant. Hoping to calm her down.
"Best intentions, do not mean much, when your alone in room, surrounded by strangers that are ingnoring you." Pointed out Carly.
Harry hated to admit it, but she did have a point. "Your right, I will work on that, but you need to work on finding a way to cure your boredom. And not at the expense of the crew. You will be living with this crew for a long time to come." Suggested Harry.
"Only till my 18th birthday, then I am out of here Captain." Said Carly.
"You could try saying Father or Dad if you like, but if its to soon, then Captain works." Pointed out Harry, wanting to give Carly a choice. She did not always have to call him Captain.
"Not ready for that, would you prefer sir or Harry?" Asked Carly.
"Captain will do." Said Harry, feeling a little disappointed.
"Okay." She said, trying to hide a smile.
"Still pretty early in the evening. You want to go out and do something?" Asked Harry, trying to give the night to Carly, to show her that he cared.
"Shouldn't I be grounded?" She asked.
"You could be, if you want too, or you can take advantage of my kindness, and head down to the mess hall, maybe play some cards and have a bowl of ice cream?" Asked Harry, hoping to get her to open up a little.
"Sure." Said Carly, as the scene starts to fade.
