Mission: [USS Shanghai] S1, E1: So it Begins
Location: Taylor Residence, Earth
Timeline: MD001 1100 hrs

Taylor Residence,
Earth, Hillsboro, Oregon
MD+ 0, 1100 Hours (12/26/2394)

The doorbell rang. It was Avril at the door. She had just come back from her meeting with Starfleet Command liked promised she was going to spend more time with her family before she left on her ten year mission with the USS Juno.

Erik opened the door to his older sister. “Hey,” was all he said, as he allowed her to enter the residence.

“Just Hey,” she commented with a grin.

“Yep.” Stated Erik.

Sarah, Anna and Marcus all walked into the living room from the kitchen area. Avril smiled at them as they all took a seat on the couch. “Hey guys.” Was all that Avril, could think of to say at this very moment. It was clear they all wanted to spend time with her. She walked over to the loveseat couch and sat down, getting ready to listen to a lot of rambling about how much they were going to miss her.

Instead, they started to ask her about her assignment, if she was ready, they were trying to make it easier for her to leave. Erik was very quiet, offering the occasional comment. But mainly being quiet. Sarah and Anna were doing most of the talking.

They chatted for a couple of hours, eventually deciding to play a few board games. This went on for a bit, Sarah made lunch, and more time had passed. Avril was very happy everyone was together for her last day on Earth.

Even her aunt Julie Anders stopped by to see her. It was very nice to have everyone together one last time she thought. Around 1900 hours she got ready to head up to ESD, putting on the uniform. She was trying to get use to the way it felt. Plus if she was going to the station, she should look the part.

Just a couple minutes before 2000 hours, she said her goodbyes. Grabbed her bags, placed them on her bed, so they would be ready to go in the morning, and requested to beam up to ESD.
