Mission Summary

A new crew a new manifest destiny, starfleet's first ten year mission into the unknown. Join Harry Anderson and the crew of the USS Juno as they head to the Gamma Quadrant.

The crew of the USS Juno will meet at Earth Space Dock and board their new ship, after a small ceremony they will leave Earth, and hopefully not return home for ten years.

The Elements of a Mission

Episode 1 - So it begins
- Intro posts, how the crew got to Earth Space Dock

The intro posts are optional for this story. Most of the intro posting will be focusing on coming together as a writing team. But for those writers, who want to take on the task of writing a solo post, are more than encouraged. Some of my crew wrote solo posts.

I wanted to allow players to tell more of the characters back story, I am really happy to see three out of five writers took advantage of it. We learn that harry is really thinking about the tough choices he made, making it to commanding officer, being selected for a deep space assignment, attempting the first ten year mission.

We learn that Avril’s parents are school teachers, and no one in her family is a Starfleet officer or an enlisted man. They are sad that she signed up for a ten year assignment. Even though Avril does not say it in the story, I assume her parents are very happy with her.

We learn that Bervag is a joined trill, in his opening solo post. He was former second officer and helmsman of the USS Defensia.

Each of these solo posts gave us a little insight into their personal lives. We know that Harry is questioning, did he sacrifice too much. Avril is close with her family, and that Bervag has a sense of humor and loves to play on the holodeck, he was re-enacting a popular 21st century television film movie called “Ghostbusters.”

- Captain, Helm, XO, Dan and T’San meet at Earth Space Dock.

Harry is still struggling with the commitment he made, but he is coming to grasp with it. Harry is unlike
most starship captain’s. He is approachable, but really respects the chain of command. So on duty, you
use the chain of command. After hours, he is more relaxed, but still adheres to military protocol.

Harry first notices the arrival of Bervag, then Avril, then T’San and Dan, they all have a small moment,
toasting to the USS Juno and their ten year mission. Harry even gives a small motivating speech.

The introduction of T’San and Dan are done in this post. We learn Dan is very outspoken, and has a great
personality. And it appears that T’San is a little less rigid in her demeanor, almost approachable.

- Xalanth arrives at Earth Space Dock.

We first meet Xalanth at the promenade with his daughter, when they see the captain. They make very
small talk, and continue on their way. Harry was looking for a gift for his mother. And it was apparent that
Xalanth was shopping with his daughter, for an unknown reason.

As GM I told the writer who is playing Xalanth, that I wanted their first official meet and greet to be more
of an official setting. However with that said, Harry getting to meet his new chief of security after hours
with his daughter, was a cool scene to write.

Above section is completed, down below section still needs to be completed.

- Captain, Helm, CMO, COS and XO aboard the USS Juno.

A great place to have a few small self-contained sub plot story arcs in this section. I would love to read about what
the crew think of the USS Juno, interior layout, her features, and of course their living accommodations.

- More Crew show up.

I want at least one more writer to go active. But the more writers, the more diversity we will have in the
sim. A strong diversity, allows character growth, and more crew interactions.

- USS Juno leaves spacedock and set a course for DS9.

- While the USS Juno is in en-route, I would like to see the crew write about daily routine.

- I would like to see Harry and Bervag settle into their roles, and figure out their command style.
- How life is going for Xalanth, Avril, Dan and T’San. Maybe their daily routines.

- Any side plot stories you guys want to create is fine with me.

Harry’s Sub Plot Story Arc
- Harry learns to that New Bajor colony was attacked. Most of the colonist survived.
- Harry recognizes a name on the list of personal presumed to be killed.
- He once dated a boran named Aanyo Tera, back in his academy days.
- Last he heard Ensign Tera was being assigned to Deep Space Nine.
- Harry feels bad that she was killed, but it had been over a decade since he last saw her.
- If you want to add more plots to episode one you are welcome, please let Rich know as soon as possible.

- USS Juno arrives at Deep Space Nine and stay’s in orbit. There is no reason to dock. The USS Juno was just resupplied. The main reason for the stop, is to pick up the last of the crew. Harry will reference a meeting between himself and Colonel Kira.

- The crew are given a small liberty pass, while they wait on the last of the crew to board.
o A great opportunity for another sub plot story arc.

Harry’s Sub Plot Story Arc
- Harry learns from Colonel Kira that he has a daughter.
- Harry decides to talk to T’San about how he is feeling.
- Harry is told, that he must take charge of his daughter’s care.
- Harry wants T’San to perform a DNA test.
- Harry feels guilty and happy but mostly guilty.
- Harry wanted a family, but not like this. An instant family, with mother presumed KIA.
- Anything T’San wants to add.

How to keep missions going

I plan on following my story arc, getting from one point to the next, but being flexible enough to modify the arc.
The story needs to be able to adapt. But there also has to be a direction to the story as well. Episode one is
about developing the characters so the reader knows who your crew is.

A great way of getting to know your crew, is to allow them to do sub plots, for character growth and
development. Stories that do not move the primary story forward, but are important enough to move the
characters development forward.

The crew has already shown some character growth in the first few posts alone. I cannot wait to explore these
characters and tell the next great star trek story.

Ending Missions (Shoreleave)

The Crew of the USS Juno will get a small liberty pass, mainly sub plot story arcs that need to be contained to
this episode, or closed out early in episode 2. The USS Juno needs to set course for the Gamma Quadrant.
