[USS Shanghai] S1, E1: So it Begins
Location: New Bajor
Timeline: MD002 0900 hrs
"May the prophets bless you my child." Called out one of the elders in the temple. "May they bless you too." Said Lieutenant Tera. She was still in the praying position, when the elder walked up to her. She wondered why the elder was interrupting her prayer.
"Can I help you, Elder?" Asked Tera.
The elder looked over at Kerja. The look on Tera's face was not a pleasing one. "Kerja." She called out in a displeasing tone. What was she thinking, wondered Tera, with a look of disappointment.
Behind the elder was a bajoran security officer, and next to him was Aanyo, Kerja daughter of Aanyo, Tera. The officer was waiting for confirmation. "Miss Kerja, was found in the sacred garden." Said the bajoran security officer.
"Not true, I was standing in the doorway and my foot slipped." Kerja glared at the woman, it was mostly true. She'd been curious to see it and hadn't intended to do anything other than poke her head in. Her toe was just barely over the entrance.
"I am so sorry, she is young and curious, I will talk to her." Said Tera, glaring at Kerja with a look of disappointment. She told her several times not to go anywhere near the sacred garden. There is a reason it's off limits.
"Make sure you do, voilating the sacred grounds is punishable under the law, I have children too." Said the Bajoran Officer.
"I promise you sir, she will stay away." Said Tera, almost pleading with the officer.
"Thank you Lieutenant." said the Bajoran Officer as he left the area, he went back to his post.
Tera waited for the guard to leave. "I know you are curious, but that garden is off limits, stay away from it. If the prophets want us to see the garden, they will invite us to see it. The Bajoran High Priest Guards, have no sense of humor." Said Tera.
Kerja turned her head away and made a face. "What's the point of having a sacred garden if no one gets to enjoy it? I'm pretty sure the prophets don't need a garden as they don't have physical bodies," Kerja complained lightly knowing if she pressed the issue her mother would become angry.
"We will discuss this later." She said, she did not want to talk about the sacred garden in public. It was a very sensitive subject for Bajoran's. She looked to Kerja. She could tell that her daughter was bored. And most of this vacation had been focused on the needs of Tera, which made her feel a little guilty.
It was in the middle of the day, the sun was out, and Tera and Kerja were suppose to be getting some vacation time. For Tera, she came to seek wisdom and strength on how to raise Kerja, and how to serve the prophets and be a great mom to her daughter. She knew Kerja was looking for things to do.
One look from her mother told her it wasn't something she would give in on. Kerja sighed, religion was weird.
"After prayers, we can go somewhere you want to go Okay?" Tera said, hoping this would get Kerja to be patient and wait. She motioned for her daughter to kneel. "You can join us for prayer or wait quietly in the courtyard." Suggested Tera, as she got ready to pray again, for the strength to raise her child. It was more difficult than she thought it would be. Tera was playing the role of Mother, Father, Mentor and friend to Kerja.

Minster Hyani, Clora of eastern province settlement was staring at the lush scenery, when two aids came running into the room. "Minster, minster," they cried out.
"What is it?" Asked Clora.
"12 small craft vessels are being picked up by our long range network, they are on a direct heading here, they are also jamming all communications. Prime Minster has ordered the planet to go to general quarters and to sound the alarms to warn our citizens." Said one of the aids.
"Well sound them, then." Clora demanded. The alarms started to go off. "How long till they arrive?" Asked Clora.
"15 minutes, they are traveling at warp nine." said the aid.
The Bajoran Officer heard the alarms go off, he reported to his assigned duty and grabbed a service rifle, the alarms could only mean a hostile attack was coming, or hostile intentions. Sero, Dega waited impatiently for the next move.

Flight/fright mode kicked in for Tera, she grabbed Kerja's hand. "We need to find shelter now, let's go." Demanded Tera, not sure what they would find. She made her way to the federation embassy.
Kerja ran along beside her, turning her head as she tried to see what was happening as her mother pulled her along. Her foot hit a rock and she stumbled, her mother pulling her up again. "What's going on? Who are they?"
"Dunno, but those alarms are only triggered when hostile forces are on approach." She said as she started to run, her paced quickened and her breathes became short. She was scared but trying not to show it. She grabbed Kerja's hand and started to flea towards the embassy, it had a bunker, but it was across town. The temple was crowded with personal, she knew it would be the first place, the enemy would hit. She started to think that maybe the embassy was not a safe place. She started to head towards the village.
Tera and Kerja ran towards the doors, they both started to pound on the door, no one was answering. They kept going from house to house, after a few minutes, Tera noticed fighters starting to attack the temple, she was glad they fled that area, but she noticed some fighters heading towards the village.
More fighters started to attack the village, federation fighters were launched and engaging the forces, she wondered how the battle was going, but at the moment she needed to find shelter for Kerja, she wished she had a weapon. She hated being defenseless. They continued to pound on doors, trying to stay close to the walls and out of the streets. Making harder for the enemy fighters to target them.
Kerja started to hear weapons fire in the distance. She really became scared, she needed to find shelter soon. She dragged her daughter back to the courtyard area, at least there was buildings that would be empty. It was a bold plan but the villagers had boarded up their homes and were not opening them. And it was better than being killed openly in the streets.
As they headed towards the courtyard, troops started to walk into the town square just before the entrance to the courtyard. There went that plan, she noticed a small fence she threw Kerja down on the ground to her below the fence line, it was the best concealment she could find at the moment for her daughter.
Tera started to sneak up on one of the guards, she came in behind him, and managed to kick him on the backside of his leg, causing him to fall down to his knees, she then kicked him as hard as she could straight to his face, she grabbed his weapon and gear, while trying to look for more enemy forces.
She could hear soldiers coming, she ran towards Kerja, and jumped over the fence, and laid right next to her. She grabbed on the rifle tightly. The Starfleet officer training and her bajoran martial arts training started to kick in. She was in defensive mode. She needed to protect her daughter and help defend the colony against hostile forces. There was three soldiers approaching, they noticed their down soldier, they started to check his vitals.
Tera used the distraction and sat up and opened fire on the soldiers she got all three of them. "Lets go," demanded Tera as she decided her best chance was the embassy, the federation forces would be there. She needed to get Kerja to safety.
Terrified she followed her mother. Kerja had only ever seen space battles before, never two people fighting in front of her. Her heart was pounding in her chest, trying to beat it's way out through her ribs. She held onto her mother, not wanting to let her go, not wanting her to fight unless she had to. Kerja only wanted to run to safety. Her vision narrowed, her thoughts dwindled. All that mattered now was surviving.

A massive fire fight broke out near the courtyard, town square and the embassy, but it did not seem like their target was the temple or the government building. What was their objective, wondered Officer Dega as he had his bajoran rifle in his hand, he started to fire his rifle at soldiers from the unknown enemy. Their armor was unknown, they were fully plated for combat. Well all about the head was fully plated. The aliens looked humanoid in appearance, but not like Bajorans or Humans.
Dega was not dressed in armor, he was on standard patrol, and there was no reason before the attack, for him to be in armor. Luckily for him, he was armed with a rifle. He slowly made his way back to Minster Clora's office. The office was lacking of enemy soldiers, what was their objective? He wondered if they already cleared the building, but after walking around and seeing a few personal hiding, he noticed the left the building alone.
Dega walked into Clora's office. He was confused, he needed orders and he needed to know, was their a plan?
Clora was trying to coordinate the attack, she had several officers in the room, a two communication radio up and running with limited range, trying to repel the attack. Their primary communications were being jammed. Clora noticed Dega arriving.
"Where is your unit, Officer Dega?" Asked Clora, only seeing one officer from his unit.
"I am not sure, Minster." Said Dega.
"Last I heard minster, they went to chase down the shock troops, it seems like the primary target is the village not us." said an unknown Bajoran Soldier.
"The Village?" Asked Clora, wondering why they were targeting the civilians.
"Send more troops to the village, we need to protect our people," ordered Clora. She wondered why were they targeting civilians, what civilized race does that?
"Yes Minster" said the unknown Bajoran Soldier.
