[USS Juno] Inside a lizard.

Mission: [USS Shanghai] S1, E1: So it Begins
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD002 1500 hrs

Sickbay had become something very familiar to the lizard security chief. Given his job, his mates job and the children he had spent his fair share in a federation starship sickbay. The ones back on earth had made his own people look very primitive even with his people own organic technology.

Stepping through the doors he breathed in the sterile air that you could only get from a newly opened sickbay. He gave a slight grin to a pointed eared junior doctor busy doing her work off to one side. She smiled back as the lizard approached the front counter politely asking the nurse on duty.

" Hello there I'm looking for Lieutenant T'San I'm here for my checkup."

The nurse nodded to the cmo office. At the same moment the doors opened and T'San walked out with a padd in her hands. She walked to the Junior doctor.

"T'Para, could you check these results and have them filed in to the right file?" T'San put the padd in her hands.

" Yes ma'am." The hybrid replied as she took the padds

T'San turned to the front counter and noticed the security officer. "You must be, lieutenant Xalanth. I am doctor T'San. She held out her hand towards the Dragonian.

" A pleasure." The dragonain responded as he took her hand. " Just here for my medical checkup before we get underway."

T'San curled the corners of her lips a bit as if she was smiling and just nodded. "Follow me, then." As they let go, T'San walked to her office. She walked around her desk. She took out a medical tricorder from her desk and turned on her computer as she looked up the right file. "Now, I have read your medical file and of course all information available on Dragonians. But to be honest you are my first patiënt." She started scanning him. "So anything I should know that isn't in your file?"

" Other than a scale tear I got three days ago nothing of notice. I'll do my best to help you with dragonain biology I know there isn't much on my people other than basic biology paper. " Xalnth replied honestly.

"Ah yes, I see the injury. That looks remarkable." said T'San. "Who repaired that?" She pushed a few buttons on the tricorder. She took a seat behind her desk. "Oh don't tell, I think I know, I read your personnel file." She looked up to the Dragonian, with her face turned that came close to a smile. "So," she turned the computer off and put the tricorder aside. "I think that's it as far as your medical check up goes. I don't find anything out of the ordinary since your last physical. Unless there is anything else you like to share with me." T'San hoped to engage in a little more conversation then her usual medical talks. Most Star fleet officers were out of sickbay even before the medical exam good and well started. Some even avoided sickbay all together.

" Yeah, I have a few things i'd like to talk about. Mind if i pull up a chair?" The lizard politely asked.

T'San nodded to the chair on the other side of her desk. "Please!"

" Thanks." The lizard replied as he sat down. " It's about my condition. Did starfleet medical send over their file's on it." He inquired politely.

T'San opened the computer. "No, not yet. But then again we are a new ship. We're still settling in. So why don't you tell me what's going on."

" I have genetic engineering done to me doctor. It wasn't my choice and from what the medical heads tell me they can't fix it. They did find a drug that can stop the effects from happening. The drug is listed on my file. They never gave me a straight awnser about this but given the length of are voyage and how long we'd be away from a starbase i was wanting to know if what the chance of passing it off to any children i might have whilst i'm on this mission." Xalanth replied calmly his voice showing the concern in his voice.

T'San nodded, "I understand your concern, I have to do some extensive scans on both you and your childeren to see what we are dealing with and if you did pass them on. Don't worry, the scans won't hurt you or your children. It is possible it has skipped them and it won't effect your children, but it could be in their dna coding so they might pass it on to their children. And also since we are in uncharted teritory now, I am willing to do some research on it to see if there is anything the 'medical heads', as you call them, missed. If you want that of course."

" I appreciate the more tests doctor though my two daughters were conceived before I had this done to me. I know me and my mate should be able use birth control, but it did not work for us before. I know it seems to be an odd thing to worry about before the mission starts, but i always worry about my kids. I'm sure you understand you have your own kids, don't you. " Xalanth replied calmly and clearly.

T'San smiled a bit. "Yes, I have 3 sons and a daughter. I know how you feel. I will continue the tests and I will use the tests results of the other doctors to see if I can be of any help. Because you have a mate from another species, and she is a human vulcan hybrid herself, I may need some blood samples from your daughters to do some tests on. With your premission of course."

" You have my permission and i'm sure my mate will give hers. It shouldn't be to hard. Yazar could get the sample herself and Travla has a slight fear of needles, but we should be able to get one. " Xalanth replied politely.

"I will leave the sample taking to you and your family. In the meantime I will urge starfleet medical to send me those files as soon as possible, so I can start on it as soon as we leave. This project gives me something to do in those boring hours that there is no one in my sickbay."T'San's rolled her eyes a bit at the thought. "Aside ofcourse from my staff." She leaned a bit forward as she went on, "So, is there anything else I can do for you, or your family. Ofcourse as a doctor or medical officer."

" May need to stop by later to use the replicators. Starfleet supply department always leaves something of the list and knowing my luck it going to be the medical kits for security. I'll maybe see you later when we bring the blood samples." The lizard responded as he stood up from his chair.

T'San got up as well. "Yes ofcourse. See you later."

" See you later as well doctor. " The lizard said as he tucked in his chair and headed for the exit. He gave a longing glance at Tpara who was busy working on the reports. She gave him a warm smile in return as he left the medbay.
