Mission:
[USS Shanghai] S1, E1: So it Begins
Location: Deck 2, Bridge
Timeline: MD002 1015 hrs
Harry walks onto the bridge and notices that Avril and Xalanth have already taken their stations. He admired their commitment to work. He was very impressed. He wished he could be at his station, but he needed to get clearance asap. He looked over to Avril and smiles as he gets ready to go to his ready room. "Miss Taylor, I assume you are working on our pre-flight checklist?" Asked Harry?
"Calculating them now, Captain. I will have the pre-flight complete when you return." She said, noticing that he was heading towards his ready room.
"Very good." Simply said Harry, as he looked over to Xalanth. He hated to do this to the dragonian, but he called out to him. "Lieutenant Xalanth, I know you have a lot on your plate, with the one hour launch window, but you have the bridge, I am going to get us clearance, we have a little time, before we arrive at DS9. He suggested."
" On it sir." Xalanth responded trying to keep how nervous he was suddenly feeling.
"I'll be back shortly," he said, as he walked into his ready room to make a call to Starfleet command.
"I am working with the engineering chief, he is firing up the engines from a complete cold start, we should be ready to go Lieutenant Xalanth, when the captain is ready." She said, reporting in to the dragonian that the captain placed in command, while he and the first officer were off the bridge, and tending to other matters.
" Very good. " the dragonian replied wondering if he should sit in the captain's chair. " As soon as engine power is confirmed I'll start up the weapons and sensors. "
"Never thought we would be leaving so soon, did you, Lieutenant?" She asked, trying to make small talk on the bridge. The bridge was very quiet, everyone was doing their part to get the ship ready for launch.
" The universe rarely calls on us at a moment of our choosing. I just hope were in time to save the colonists and find out who these new aggressors are." The reptile responded as he tapped away at his console.
"I want to know about these new aggressors too, why New Bajor, why now? This planet has been colonized for a while now. I have no doubt we will discover the fate, I hope this is a simple miss understanding, but seeing how they took our people, the chances of that being a reality, is slim." Avril pointed out.
" My people hoped the same when the first Yor ship crashed into are colony. If they attack without warning it's a clear sign they want a fight." Replied the lizard.
Avril's terminal beeped, "engineering is reporting we are green light for main engine start." Suggested Avril, but at the moment it was Xalanth's call. He was in command while the captain and first officer were gone.
" Bring them, online Lieutenant. Slow and steady. " Xalanth said looking at his console. Here goes nothing.
"Here we go," she said as she inputted the start up engine sequence, after a few moments a slight hum from the engines was heard, but the sound faded. "Engines at 10% slowly firing up to 40%." She said, not wanting to push them to 100% until they detached the umbilical to the station.
10 minutes later.
Harry heard the engines firing up and had just completed his meeting with Starfleet command, he walked back onto the bridge. "Nicely done Lieutenant Taylor, you too Lieutenant Xalanth." Said Harry as he walked over to his command chair, and noticed it was empty and Xalanth, was still at his station.
"Xalanth open a line with the dockmaster, I want to get priority departure, we have 30 minutes before scheduled launch window." Ordered Harry. As the scene starts to close.
The reptile nodded as he opened a channel and began entering his security code.
"Lieutenant Taylor, continue to bring the engines up, lets go 45%." He said, wanting to make sure they were primed and charged enough to go. "Clear the mourings so we can can prepare to disconnect the umbilical." He ordered, the start up procedures were under way.
"Aye Captain," said Avril as she started to go down the checklist. They were flying through all of the checklist, trying to get the Juno, out of dock, the bridge crew was working hard as the scene fades.
