Mission:
[JM USS Shanghai] S1, E7: The Dragonian Code
Location: Chief Operations Officer's Office
Timeline: MD001 1630
T'San was notified to report on the Shanghai. She suspected it had something to do with Lieutenant Aanyo. Even though her transfer papers had already been filed and she handed over sickbay to T'Para, she was still assigned to the Lieutenants case with T'Para. And now she was called up by Lieutenant Thorrin. She knew he was now in command of the ship, while the entire command team of the Shanghai was on the planet. She wondered what he would be needing to know about the Lieutenants case.
She walked the route through the ship she began to know so well. When she arrived at Thorrin's office she rang his chime and waited to be invited in.
"Come on in Commander" Thorrin said to the door. He already knew who was on the other side as he was informed by the transporter chief when T'San would be coming aboard, and Vulcans were never late. "Commander thank you for coming. Please have a seat. Can I get you anything?"
T'San sat down on a seat and then looked up to the Lieutenant, "No, thank you, I had refreshments earlier on the planet." She thought a moment. "Though I would like a fresh mint tea with honey, if it is not too much trouble."
"Not at all" Thorrin said as he retrieved the tea and a glass of wine from the replicator. He set the drinks down and sat at his desk. "Commander I am going to cut right to the chase if that is okay. I have been tasked with command of the Shanghai while most of the Senior Staff is planet-side. Normally that would not be an issue, however, I have a fourteen year old girl who believes her father hates her and her mother is dying. Add to that no one telling the girl anything. This is something that I cannot abide. That said after speaking with Sick Bay, and Security I think I have an idea on how we can solve the Lieutenant's mystery. Before we get into that may I ask. What are your thoughts on her case?" Thorrin spoke in rapid fire but that was not due to emotion as much as it was due to him wanting this case closed. He also knew that the Vulcan before him would understand and keep pace.
T'San nodded, "Then Captain Anderson hasn't talked to his daughter. That is most unsettling for the child. Lieutenant, as a doctor, I can only discuss this matter with the captain, as I am sure you will understand. But since you are in command of the Shanghai now and Kerja was not informed I shall tell you what I know. Lieutenant Aanyo was hurt the last time she was taken by the Crescent. The Crescent possess mental abilities even I can not comprehend. What they did her body is beyond what myself and Doctor T'Para could handle. However I do think the Lieutenant is better helped at Port Royale at the Kilranda medical facility, they have better equipment than the Shanghai."
"The Captain has not been in contact with his daughter. I do not know why, and personally I think that is reprehensible. However, I imagine that the Captain has his reasons, and those reasons are not mine to question. I would concur with Kilranda, however, that may not be an option. From what I was told in Sick Bay Lieutenant Aanyo may die if she cannot be helped and soon. They also informed me that there seems to be a disconnect of her conscious mind, although they do not know how. My thought is if you engaged in a monitored mind meld with the Lieutenant we might be able to get an idea of what is going on her head. Furthermore, if you were to agree to this course of action I would request that one Orson De formally of the Crescent and now under Federation asylum come and assist. According to my research he would be the best person to figure this out and perhaps even cure the Lieutenant." Thorrin tapped a few commands into the computer on his desk and the results of his research came up on the screen on the wall of his office. He wanted T'San to see that not only had he done his homework, but this plan was perhaps the best viable one to kill two birds with one stone as it were.
T'San looked to the screen that had lid up after listening to the Lieutenant about his plan. "You did think this through. However there is one flaw in your plan. Since miss Aanyo is in no condition to give her consent for this, her next of kin has to. And since that is Kerja and she is a minor and legal guardianship over her was given by the Bajoran authority to Captain Anderson. In which case consent must be given by the Captain before we should proceed. I do however agree with your plan. As Miss Aanyo should have been taken to Kilranda the moment we got back in to the Alpha Quadrant. I am unsure why the captain chose not to have her treated at the medical station."
She turned back to Thorrin. "As for the request of requesting Orson's help, I agree. We need his help in this matter. There is however one thing you should be made aware off, young master Orson is experiencing a memory loss. I don't know what has happened or why his people chose to take away his memory. I suspect he knows something he should not know. Or this is not the first time he tried to run away from his people. Or he was set up to be brought in our midst. It might be something he does not wish us to know, or wish to remember himself. Either way, I detect no deception on the boy's part, but we must thread carefully."
"Agreed... Perhaps the best way to proceed is for me to contact the Captain and see if he will grant permission for the meld. In the meantime perhaps you can escort Orson to Sick Bay and see if there is some way he can assist in the preliminary." Thorrin had to admit that he was impressed with himself. The plan was sound and once more T'San seemed to agree, he thought he was going to have to convince her.
T'San nodded and said, "Yes, I agree. I shall bring Orson to sickbay. Is there anything else you need in this?"
"No thank you Commander. I do appreciate your help." Thorrin responded curtly.
T'San just nodded as she got up and left the room.
When T'San had left Thorrin tented his fingers and leaned back in his chair. The wheels in his head spun, as T'San had the easier of the tasks. Convincing the Captain was a large undertaking and had to be handled extremely delicately. The question was why was the Captain not communicating with his daughter.
