1,803 words; about a 9 minute read

Mission: [USS Ottawa] S1 E4 Mission New Haven
Location: Colonel's ready room

She was reading a padd someone had handed her on the station. A chief intelligence officer was assigned to her ship and he had come on board the ship when they were docked at the base. It seems he hadn't reported in and she was going to find out why. She tapped her badge and called out, "Lieutenant Commander Bourne, please report to my ready room please, Colonel Ijaan out."

Jason lay in bed when the comms chirped he decided remind me to kill them next time we meet dont wake someone of my ilk or there will be trouble and went back to bed

----30 minutes later----

She didn't get a response nor a confirmation that he was on his way. "Computer, location of Commander Bourne."

The computer tjirped and replied. "Commander Bourne is in his quarters."

"Computer what are the commander's vital signs?" She asked again.

"The vital signs of commander Bourne are in normal parameters." Came the reply.

Ellie tapped her badge again. "Commander Bourne, this is Colonel Ellis Sheppard, When I asked for you to report to my ready room, I meant immediately. So please report to my ready room right now. And make sure you're dressed properly." She added.

Bourne ignored the uniform scrunched up on the sofa and put on the black t shirt over the top putting the black merino wool submariner sweater grabbing the pips from the scrunched up uniform and affixing them to the collar of the sweater. He leaned over to the side table and grabbed the comm badge placing it on the sweater slipping on the black trousers he moved towards the mirror to straighten his hair before slipping into the boots. He left the quarters heading for the call but could not be arsed to go but didn't really want to kill them anyway or anybody and headed for the turbolift.

Ellie was still waiting in her office for Bourne to show up. She looked to the desk that was now her. This was the very desk that Commodore Martinez was seated behind, though it wasn't that long before he got promoted to hand it over to her. She straitened the frame on the desk which had the wedding photo on it of her and Jazin. She smiled to it. And then she thought about how wonderful it would be if they had a party again on the Ottawa. Just like old times. It would boost morale overall. She might discuss it with the senior staff. It was then the door chime rang. Finally! She thought to herself. "Enter!" She called.

Jason watched as the door of the turbolift opened to the bridge and wandered on it was a hive of activity. He strolled over to the ready room door and adjusted his submariner sweater waiting for the call which came a few minutes after he had buzzed and watched as the door whooshed open and walked in.

"Thank you for coming, commander," Ellie started. "I hope you can be more punctual in the future. Also when you get a reassignment, it can be expected that you come meet your new commanding officer. Am I wrong?" She didn't allow him to answer. And went right to business as she handed him a pad. "You're the chief intelligence officer, I have a job for you." She said straight to the point.

Jason nodded waiting for the Colonel to continue.

She handed him a data chip. "These are all the logs, personal and departmental, and all the data logs I obtained from the USS Ottawa," she continued on. "The Original Ottawa. It contains all the Information we acquired the past 9 years on an alternate reality. I want you to find all data on a race called the Crescent of Sephira and everything that is related to what is called the 'Crescent war'." She got up and walked to the replicator. "We'll be arriving at starbase Port Royale in a few days, there will be a briefing with Admiral Llewelyn. It appears, Starfleet has officially declared war to the Crescent in this universe. The Shanghai will be joining us at the starbase." She stopped a moment and asked, "Can I get you something, commander?"

Jason shook his head and waited for the Colonel to continue he was curios to hear more.

She got herself a fresh mint water with honey and took a seat behind her desk again. "There is something else I like you to do for me while you're in the file. And this one if of a delicate nature. 'Need to know', if you know what I mean. I want you to work on that one alone, no one in your department can know. or anyone else on the ship, with exception of myself, the commander and commander Sharp. Do I make myself clear?"

Bourne nodded and waited.

"There is a file called 'Umbra' on the data chip," Ellie started. "I know you are a intelligence officer. When you start reading it, you won't believe what you will read in there. Much like a lot on that data chip. I am a marine, I wouldn't believe most of the things on there, if I haven't lived through it myself. I want you to go through the data and I want you to find out if something like this ever occurred, doesn't matter if it is legend, folklore. I want as much information as possible and possible things we can do about this."

Jason nodded waiting for the colonel to explain more about this information and what exactly it was all about.

Ellie sighed. She didn't know what to say at this point. Somehow the intelligence chief wasn't asking questions. Something was a miss. She looked around the room. She got up and looking around the room. Then she saw something move swiftly in the corner of her eye. She turned towards the figure. She saw the dark figure. She recognized the shape. She drop back in her chair. The shadow moved closer towards to her, slowly. And the figure didn't waste to hide her from everyone in the room.

Ellie was shaking as she held up her hand to Jason. "Commander, whatever you do...dodon't raise your weapon at it. That is an order!"

The shadow creature was now really close to Ellie. And then it started to speak, "Ellisssss SSSSheppard." It hissed. She raised what looked like a hand and placed it on her head. "Ellisssss Ijjjjaaaaan. Who?" She then pointed to Jason and looked at him. She then put her put her pointing finger on Ellie's head again and disappeared. Ellie's eyes turned black. She got up and walked to Jason. Ellie grabbed the man who was clearly bigger than her. "Jason Bourne!" She said with a hollow voice. "Lieutenant Commander Jason Bourne you leave me alone. You leave Ellie alone. You leave Commander Sharp Alone. You leave Lieutenant Walkers alone. You leave Jazin alone. You leave us alone." Ellie let go of Jason and then put her hands on Jason's face. "Jason....Jason...." Ellies voice was now softly whispering. "Jason, can join us. Jason join us. Jason will join us. Ottawa will join us." Umbra then let Ellie go again.

Ellie's eyes turned back to normal. Ellie looked to Jason. Her heart was racing. "Call commander...Ijaan." She said before she dropped on the floor as she lost consciousness.

Jason started to freak out he had no clue what to do about the situation his mind kept thinking oh crap oh crap I think she is dead what do I do. He prodded her with his foot but nothing happened he was freaking out getting to the point of hyperventilating or passing out he had to do something but what. He prodded the corpse again still nothing Jason was loosing it his mind had gone blank the only solution his brain was giving him was drag her onto the bridge then pass out but Jason didnt want to do that. Jason kept pacing up and down the he ready room trying to get his brain to think of anything except drag her and pass out he was loosing it badly he had passed the threshold and was now going bonkers he needed to sit down and calm down but his brain said no.

Jazin held a stack of padds. Mostly mundane reports. But the CO still had to see them. So he brought them to her door like a good little XO.

He got there and rang the chime, no response. "That's odd" he thought. "A Marine like Ellie. Computer, status of Colonel Ijaan.

"Colonel Ijaan is unconscious"

"What? Open the door, now" he ordered. The door swished open to reveal a rather panicked intel officer and his wife unresponsive. He slumped over to her, shaking her
"Ellie? Ellie?!"

He turned to the officer. "You have to tell me what happened" he said. "But later. You look like you've seen a ghost.' Jazin said. 'A..ghost" he mumbled. Jazin replicated a nerve tonic. "Here, drink this. Over here, relax a little, or at least try to" he said.

He went back to Ellie's side

'Ellie? Are you there?!"

"DON'T ASK ME I HAVE NO GOD DAM IDEA WHAT JUST HAPPENED ITS ALL A BLUR IT HAPPENED SO FAST" Jason exclaimed yelling for no reason

Jazin nodded. "I get you. I'm gonna need you to compose yourself. I'll explain, but I'm sort of worried about my wife.
How about you wait in my office? Replicator is at your disposal"

“You should be more concerned about that thing than me” Jason explained then looked down “GOD DAM IT YOU STOOD ON IT NOW ITS RUINED WE WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT INFORMATION WAS ON IT IDIOT” Jason yelled now displeased with the XO and his stupidity

Jazin was beginning to get on edge, feeling the tension build inside. It was clear to him that the commander was not experienced with this and he was loosing it. He waited patiently for Jason to stop yelling. "Are you done, mister Bourne?" He asked in a stern voice. He looked down at the destroyed data chip. He then sighed and said, "I know what is on the chip and will get you a new one. Now will you please get the hell out of my wife's office and go to mine and wait for me there! That is an order! You're lucky I am not putting you on report for calling me an idiot. Dismissed!"

When Jason wanted to protest he said again in a stern voice, "I said dismissed, commander!" He watched intently as Jason walked out of the room.
