Mission:
[ USS Shanghai] S1E8 Light of the past.
Location: Captain's ready room
Timeline: MD001 2200
Xalanth tapped his desk impatiently as he waited for the channel to open up. Off all the things to trouble him on his first command, this was the last thing he wanted.
Off all the things the collective was the last thing he'd think would be popping back up. Though the biggest thought was why the federations computer hadn't flagged the collectives artifacts the moment they were found.
Still, he had to report the situation to the sector commander. His eyes darted to the computer screen. At least the comms relays were working and holding the connection.
The Colonel's face popped on to the screen. She looked smiling at Xalanth. "Commander, how is your first mission going? Word around the base is, you had a rough time out there. How may I help you?"
" Very badly commander. The conoly is overrun by what appear to be genetically manipulated monsters that were the colonists. We think we know what's causing it, but we have to rule out any other possibilities. " he replied calmly.
" Are most likely cause in an artifact from a precursor race know as the collective of light. The thing is the federations systems should have flagged any artifacts with there symbol on it the moment they were found. Were there any reported logs received at the starbase? " he asked.
Ellie turned to another screen next to her and looked intently as she looked through the logs. "Hmm, that's odd. Usually research logs are send automatically to the base. But there are no logs received from the colony since the colonists and the research team got there. I do see a request for logs from the science team on the base. But there was no response to that either." She looked over to Xalanth.
" Well, that makes my job even harder. It looks like someone been keeping the reports from getting out and the colony central computer was trashed. " the lizard responded as he ran his hand along his head. " Can you have any ships that left the colony called back and searched. Someone may have tried sneaking someone or something off the planet."
"Of course, commander, I am sending out the order now. But if someone was sneaked out, I may have to send a ship after them." She looked to the other screen. "I have a few confirmations, I may have to send in a ship to help with the search." She turned to Xalanth. "You should get back here as soon as possible. I heard what happened to your wife. The Medical facility on the Haven Colony might be better equipped to help her." Ellie offered.
" I would Ma'am, but we have a few leads about what happened. We may be able to fix this mess and not lose a whole colony. We also can't leave the crescent ship around." The lizard replied
Ellie tapped her fingers on her desk in thought a moment. She then looked back to the lizard. "Alright, this is how we're going to do this. I'm going to send the Saigon to get your quarantined personnel. Commander Vanth can replace your doctor for the time being. I know your wife is effected, how are your other officers, are they fit for duty? If not, I can send an experienced replacement for your tactical chief."
" Only my wife was affected. Everyone else is fine. It will take the Saigon a few days to get here. may i continue operations to try and work out what happened here?" he asked
"Please do," Ellie replied. "Make sure you send me your findings. If what you're saying is true, either the collective of light is back, or the Crescent has found a new power source to tap in to. And I like neither possibilities."
" Neither do i Ijaan. I'll keep you informed on the situation. " Xalanth said calmly.
Ellie nodded. "Oh and Xalanth, call me Ellie." She smiled and pressed a button on her side to close the channel.
" Will do." Xalanth said to the blank screen as he stood up. Time to fix this mess.
