Mission: [USS Saigon] Flowers for the Admiral
Location: Executive Officers office
Timeline: MD001 1600

ON:

Having arrived onboard and ensured he was unpacked very quickly, Finchley hurried to make it to the Executive Officers office. Finally making it there, he stopped to give himself the once over, the thought of him being disheveled or in any way not dressed in regulation horrified him.

PADD in hand, he pressed the buzzer by the doors and awaited an answer from within.

J'Tag was startled by the door chime as it sounded. She was deep in thought about the Florians and Mother Rose when the door chimed. "Enter", she said quickly.

The doors opened, allowing Finchley to enter the office. He walked over to where the Executive Officer was and holding out the PADD he had said "Lieutenant Commander Finchley Kerr, your new Chief of Security, reporting for duty Commander, here are my transfer orders."

Looking up, J'Tag just sat there staring at the new Security Chief. He took her breath away for a split second. "Cmdr. Kerr, welcome to the Saigon", she said taking his PADD. "Please sit, or get something to drink if you wish. I don't stand on ceremony here. From time to time I may call my officers by their first names. If you wish you can address me as J'Tag if you wish. Now have you settled into your quarters? I hope they are satisfactory?", she inquired.

"Thank you Sir, I'll get myself a coffee" Finchley replied, walking over to the replicator and ordering himself one. He walked back to the seat, sat down, took a drink from his coffee and closed his eyes a moment, though replicated it still tasted nice after the crap he'd had to drink for the last few months.

Opening his eyes again, he couldn't help but stare are the stunning looking officer who sat opposite him. She had the fierce, upright, toned muscular body of a Klingon, yet the stunning beauty and nose ridge lines of a Bataziod. He blinked a moment as he answered "My quarters are more than satisfactory Commander, I've settled in very well, thank you. To answer what you said, I have no problem with you calling me by my first name, though for myself, if I do address you by your own first name, it will be in privacy, away from lower ranks. I still like them to have that 'little bit of fear' about their Senior officers, if you know what I mean..." he laughed.

"Yes Cmdr. Kerr...", she said chuckling, "I do know exactly what you mean. My people know when I use their first names I am pissed off at them. It comes from doubling in engineering. Yet I do try to keep myself in check", J'Tag finished. Being a CEO by trade and now the XO at the same time has its challenges. She has a cracker jack assistant in Engineering who is almost as good as she is so it does help.

"If you don't mind me asking Commander, how do you rate the Saigon crew?" Finchley asked "I'm new here so it would be helpful to me to get an insight into them from the XO's point of view" he finished.

"My crew? Well Commander, this crew is warm and humble. Proficient in their jobs and loyal to Starfleet. I have no complaints from them and all of them respect the chain of command. I know you will do well here on the Saigon, of that I am confident. We are transporting the task force Rear Admiral along with other VIP's to the Florian homeworld so I assume you know the protocol for security of the brass. That being said, I know you will fit in well here and your officers are yours to command. Oh......one more thing Cmdr. Finchley, I am holding an informal dinner with the Rear Admiral as she has made the Saigon her flagship. I hope you will accept", J'Tag said warmly.

Finchley bowed slightly at the hip, but kept eye contact with J'Tag as he replied "I'd be honoured to accept your invite to the informal dinner Commander, thank you for inviting me. In regards to the protocols for Security whilst we're transporting the Admiral and VIP's, yes Sir, I know what's expected. I shall however have additional protocols put in place such as roaming Security details, additional sweeps of all corridors and rooms around the guests quarters and meeting rooms and updated Security codes that will change every thirty minutes" he finished.

"Outstanding Cmdr. Kerr, as I also have my own security codes for engineering, which I do head up as well, I am sure we can create the necessary codes together. The Admiral's safety is paramount on this ship. I will notify you of the day and time of the dinner. Also, I approve your security measures. Anything else you may need please let me know", J'Tagh said smiling.

"Working in Engineering and being Executive Officer must keep you busy Commander!" Finchley said "and yes, I'm more than happy to work with you to create the necessary codes. I look forward to hearing from you as to when the dinner will be taking place, I think it'll be a fascinating opportunity to perhaps meet the Admiral. If I can think of anything else I require, I'll get right on the blower to you."

"Very good Commander Kerr, Oh and yes basically doing engineering from the bridge is about as much as I get unless I am physically needed in engineering. And that thankfully is not often so far. I will let you know as to when and what time is the dinner with the Admiral. Finchley you will make a fine officer here and I appreciate your candid responses. Now.....off you go to your department", J'Tagh said chuckling.

Finchley smiled at the reply and said "Yes Commander, and thank you." He bowed slightly, turned and left the room. He had a very good feeling about the USS Saigon, this was going to be an excellent posting.
