Mission:
[USS Ottawa] Ending to a legend
Location: Starbase New Hope
Timeline: MD001 2000 hrs
Ellie walked in to the crew lounge on the base, with Jazin in tow as usual. She looked around till she saw her friend. Lily was sitting in a corner, she wasn't wearing a uniform. Ellie wondered if she had left startfleet or if she had to go casual too. She and her husban sat down on the other side of the table.
"Hello, Lily, I heard about James, we're so sorry for your loss," Ellie said. "How are you doing?"
Lily always tried to be stronger than she looked. But today she was really crushed. Ellie could really tell. Lily looked up to Ellie and started to move her hands as if she had no idea what to do. "Oh, Ellie...I..."
Ellie lunged forward and gave her a hug. She then sat back down. "If you're up to it, could you tell me what happened?"
Lily swallowed and took out her hankerchief she was holding for, no one knows how long. She then sighed and said, "As you know, the war was still going on when you left, hell it's still going on. We were in the middle of an evacuation when the Crescent boarded. They got the power so it was darker than usual. And you know James, he remained on the bridge till everyone was out. I was on my way to get him. When I got to the bridge, there they were, Orson and Kadja. Orson just looked at James and he couldn't fight them of course." She started to cry. "He...he..."
"It's ok, you don't have to tell us, " Ellie said. "Jazin and I know what those two are capable off. Orson is too powerful." She looked to Jazin. They never met the Crescent couple, aside from on a screen, but they seen them do things they've never seen before.
When she saw the look on his face she tapped him on the shoulders. She knew he has been through a lot, being here was very hard for him. It brought memories to her as well. She turned to Lily again and got up and sat down next to her. She put her arms around Lily. "I am so sorry for your loss." Lily couldn't help herself and start to cry uncontrallably.
When she finally calmed down she said as she looked up to Ellie, "I think it's time for me to go home. I have nothing and no one here left. I stayed because of James. And I waited for you to come home. After the memorial, will you take me home, Ellie."
Ellie nodded. "Yes, Lily, it's time to go home."
Lily then noticed the ring on Ellie's finger. She looked from Ellie to Jazin. And then she smiled. "I was rooting for you two. Everyone could tell how the two of you were looking at each other. Even James could tell. When you disappeared we knew you made it home." She looked away and then said, "James said when he heard, I hope the two of them either quit starfleet and get married and settle down somewhere, they deserve it."
Ellie looked to Jazin and then back to Lily. "But what about you two? You and James deserved to settle down as well. Why didn't you?"
Lily smiled. "You know, James, at times I thought he was married to that ship instead of me."
Ellie shook her head. "I don't believe it, Lily. He cared for you a lot."
Lily smiled and nodded. "I know, Ellie." She lay her hand on her stomach.
Ellie looked at her confused. "Are you pregnant, Lily?"
Lily nodded. "I am just so sad he couldn't be here to see it born and grow up." She sighed and then continue, "Commodore Meran has released the body to me, I want to take him back to our universe. I want our son to be born in a place without such darkness and hatred. Far away from the Crescent."
Ellie and Jazin put their hands on her shoulder. "And your son will, Lily, I will make sure of that," Said Ellie.
