Mission:
[Shanghai]S1E9 Return of Bervag Bers
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: Current
Her first assignment, Lialla was slightly nervous, and knew that she needed to meet with the Captain. She made her way to the turbo lift, giving the directions to the lift to the bridge and proceeded to the Ready Room. Her hand shook, as her finger touched the chime to let the Captain know someone was there.
Lialla reached out with her senses to see if she could at the very least, find out what sort of mood Captain Bers was in. Just using her empathy. Maybe it will help her not be so nervous.
Bervag was nodding off when he heard the door chime. It snapped him awake. He immediately put the padd that he was reading down. "Agonizing detail, my one weakness" he laughed to himself as he made himself presentable. "Enter!" He called out
Lialla stepped inside, taking a good look at the captain before her. Just something about his demeanor relaxed her, and she smiled. "Greetings sir, er Captain Bers. I'm Counselor Troga, I've been assigned to your ship, and so am here to, say.. here I am!" Giving a light laugh, mostly towards herself for acting so awkward. "Just to let you know, you are my first assignment as a ships counselor."
"Glad to have you, Lieutenant. Welcome to the Shanghai." Bervag said, smiling. He motioned to his replicator. "Can I get you anything?"
"Green tea please." Lialla replied, walking to take a seat upon a near by chair, smoothing out the skirt of her yellow dress.
He ordered just that and a coffee for himself. He handed his guest her tea and returned to his seat
"Thank you." taking a sip of the tea, and beginning to feel more relaxed. She contemplated Bers for a few moments. "Tell me something Captain. I have heard tales of captains avoiding counselors at all costs, are you that sort of captain who doesn't like to talk to counselors?" yes she was being direct but she did want to find out.
Bervag sipped his coffee. He nodded. "The opposite in fact." He said. "I'd say I'm the type of Captain who probably needs to every once in a while."
Lialla smiled, "Oh I am very glad to hear that, though I am not above chasing down and getting to know people out of the office. Sometimes you need someone to talk to, and if a counselor can put someone at ease enough for them to just converse, all the more better. So what can you tell me about your crew. or matter of fact. Tell me something about yourself? And I can tell you about myself. Oh my I think I just took command of the direction of this conversation." giving a light laugh.
Bervag smiled. "Well, where to begin." He laughed. He took a sip of coffee. "Well, I don't know if this counts." He began. "But I know I'm less klutzy than a buddy of mine."
"Oh I see, in what way are you less klutzy. Does this mean you dance?" giving a bit of a smile certainly enjoying this conversation.
"I've been known to dance." He grinned. "But it's a funny story. We were in the quad when he saw an engineering cadet that he had been trying to talk to. I told him to go do it. Only he wasn't watching where he was going and he went headfirst into the academy fountain"
Lialla covered her mouth with a gasp, "Oh no! Your poor friend! I hope he didn't get teased incessantly but.. did he get to talk to her afterwards?"
" He did eventually." he laughed. "They got married so I guess it worked out." he smiled. He took a sip of coffee. "Now about me." he thought. " Well this is my first tour as a starship captain, previously I was XO on the old Juno. That was an...eventful cruise to say the least. Changed a lot then I'd say."
"I see, I've not heard of the Juno, but I am finding it interesting that this is your first tour as captain. And this is as I had stated, my very first tour on a ship. Now for hobbies you like to do in your personal time? I am hoping that you do things to help you alleviate your stress." Lialla stated, then took a drink of her tea.
"Well.." Bervag thought. "I used to spend a lot of time in the holodeck. Mainly just as a stress reliever. I remember prior to being an XO I used to hang out with my buddies all the time."
"And now, you are a Captain. You will definitely be needing to make certain you get some destressing time. " giving a mock bossy expression. "As your counselor this means I will be almost nagging at you to give yourself some relaxation time." Lialla's gaze then brightens up and she laughed.
Bervag gave a mock salute. "Aye, counselor. " he smiled. "And truth be told, I could use it. There was a little bit a while back where I lost a part of me and I haven't really faced it as much as I should have"
"Tell me just a bit about what happened?" her expressive eyes looking into his.
"It was a mission a while back. I had just mad lieutenant commander and got posted to Juno. On an away team we came across this artifact left by the crescent. We were better off leaving it be." He took a breath. "Because when we got it back the crew began to switch bodies. So I was separated from the Bers symbiont and lived for a while in the body of the COs daughter. Then got back only for it to happen again. So I broke down a little bit back then." He simply stated
Lialla's eyes went large and her hand went up to her mouth. "Oh no! That must have felt terrible, and if I were in that situation I would have felt lost. But now you are.. whole once more?"
"I am. Thank you for asking." He smiled. "A few mannerisms remain. But as far as I can tell, I'm mostly me." He sighed. "And thank you for getting me to say it out loud."
"You've not done so before? And you are welcome." she stated. "Hopefully that artifact was done away with. I don't know what I would do if I were transferred to another body other than myself. Talk about Freaky Friday!"
"It was definitely freaky." Bervag laughed. "But it did give me an opportunity to try Hasparat. It wasn't bad." he smiled
"Nice. Well now that you are back to being you. What plans do you have for the future? For the ship, and the crew?" Lialla asked. She was definitely wanting to know.
"This may sound cheesy, but boldly go." he said. "True the Cresscent are making waves. But we're still starfleet. So wherever that takes us, that's where we'll go."
"That sounds like a good plan to me." Lialla remarked, "Well I should be going, I have more people to meet with. In an unofficial capacity so to speak. Can't always wait for people to come to me, right?" giving a light laugh. She rose from her chair, walking over towards the desk and holding out her hand. "it was lovely talking with you, let's do this again."
"I'd like that." Bervag said. He gladly shook her hand. "Welcome aboard." He smiled.
"Thank you Captain Bervag, I will be seeing you around." Lialla replied with a smile. She then turned and walked towards the door, looked over her shoulder towards the captain, "I'll be seeing you around, Sir. Maybe sooner than later." with that last comment she walked out of the office, letting the door close behind her.
