Mission: [USS Shanghai] S1E2: Encounter in the Abyss
Location: Avril's Quarters
Timeline: 01/04/2395 @ 1815 Hours

Avril walked from the replicator in her quarters over to the small table in room. "Computer, play some soft piano music, relaxing mood from Kemtari." Said Avril, as she started to listen to the soothing sounds of Kemtari species. She sat alone in her room, eating her food, when she heard a beep on her intercom. "Bridge to Lieutenant Taylor." Called out the duty officer on the bridge.

Avril wondered now what, she just left the bridge. What could they possibly want with her? "Taylor to the bridge, go ahead." Said Taylor, acknowledging they were trying to reach her.

"You have a call coming in," said the Duty Officer.

"Route it to my quarters, Taylor out." Said Avril. She knew who it was, it was her parents. The new pathfinder communications array allowed for starfleet to stay in contact with any ship in the milky way galaxy. This was good, because twenty years this was impossible, she wondered how Voyager survived with no contact from home for almost seven years straight.

"Hello Dad," said Avril, a little surprised not to see her mother on the screen. Her first reaction, is everyone alright.

"Everyone is alright, incase you were wondering. I just wanted to talk to my baby girl, its strange to think your in the Gamma Quadrant, alone." Said Marcus.

"I am not alone, there are over 800 personal on the ship, closer to 900." She suggested, trying to comfort her father.

"I mean from your family, but I understand your desire to explore the universe." He said being supportive, but still missing his little girl.

"I know, but I am following my dream, and I miss you too. How is Mom, Erik and Anna doing?" Asked Avril.

"They are well, they want to talk to you soon, I told them we would have to wait til your settled in on the Juno." Said Marcus, trying to tell her basically, to expect calls from her siblings.

"I am pretty settled in. They can call, whenever they like." She said with a smile.

"Did I catch you at a bad time?" Asked Marcus.

"No, right now is perfect." She said. She did not want to tell him, he interrupted her dinner time.

"I'm glad, I won't take up to much of your time, just wanted to check in." He said, feeling a little emotionally compromised.

"I appreciate it." Said Avril.

"I am so proud of you, I love you. We will talk soon, bye hunny." Said Marcus.

"By father." She said as the channel closed.
