Mission:
[USS Ottawa] S1, E2: Empok Nor
Location: Bridge
Timeline: 05/21/2394, 0900 Hrs
Two Weeks had passed since the rescue of Ellie's Brother...
The USS Ottawa had completed rescuing Colonel Sheppard, and Domingo was not sure how to convince, Ellie Sheppard to stay on the ship. She was an exceptional officer, and Starfleet could benefit from her experience. In a way she could benefit from Starfleet as well. Dom was on the bridge, he looked over to the first officer chair. "Colonel Sheppard, it's been an honor, to have you on the Ottawa, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you!" He said, reaching out to shake her hand. He had tried to convince her to stay, but she seemed pretty determined to leave.
Dom knew the crew accepted her in her role. He knew they would be just as devastated as he was to loose her. But he he could understand her reasoning. She had been through a lot. She had held up her end of the bargain, she promised to escort her brother back to Empok Nor. The USS Ottawa was called to the station, she had to fly across the galaxy in record time, the new quantum slipstream drive was functioning perfectly.
Ellie smiled, "Thank you, it was great to serve under a captain again, I missed that. Thank you sir." She turned around and looked to Jazin a moment. And then she looked to the captain. "Sir, I know you would rather want to me to stay then resign from the service. And I think the crew doesn't want to see me leave either. I have a lot to think about." She got up and stood at attention. "I would like to converse wit my security officer first if you don't mind. But I can say one thing," She took a deep breath. "Save my seat, sir. Just give me a bit more time to think this through."
"Of course, Colonel, take all of the time you need. The Ottawa is going to be at Empok Nor for a couple of days, Captain Malbrook of the Pioneer has called for every starship in the area to the station. Since we were heading this way, decided to acknowledge his request." Said Dom, as he watched Ellie the command area of the bridge.
"Thank you, sir," Ellie made a salute and then walked towards the turbo lift.
Dom got on his combadge. "Bridge to Lieutenant Sharpe." Called out Dom with a grin on his face.
Gabe swore as he pulled open the tricorder he'd been working on, smoke raising from the case. He pulled a multi tool from his waistcoat pocket and used it to flick the smoking power cell out.
"Bloody cheaply made Isodinium rubbish." He grumbled to himself, reaching across his workbench to grab another, higher quality power cell and placed it into the recess on the tricorder's motherboard.
He closed the case and flipped the tricorder open. He watched as the screen lit up and ran through the self diagnostics data.
"Better."
He stood up and left the tricorder to run through it's self diagnostic. He walked over to his desk and took a bite of the Bacon sandwish that had been sat there nearly an hour. He let out an annoyed grunt and dropped the sandwish back onto the plate before rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Well this morning keeps getting better."
He took a quick look at the small cot set up in the corner of the room but dismissed it, he wasn't quite ready to crash.
He finished the rest of his breakfast, grabbed the re-built tricorder and left his workshop, heading to the bridge.
Before Dom could get a response, the doors to the bridge open. "That was fast," he said. He barely placed the call to Gabe, and he was already on his way to the bridge.
Gabe stepped out onto the bridge and gave a slight smile, "Ya know me, always on call." He replied, straightening out his waistcoat.
He turned to face Sheppard, "How's that decision comin' Colonel?" He asked her as kindly as possible, "Ya did good work on Cestus III and I know there's multiple members of the crew that'd be sad ta see ya go."
Ellie nodded to Gabe, "I am still thinking about it, Lieutenant, but don't write me off just yet." She said smiling stepping on to the turbo lift. She looked to Jazin to follow her.
"I hope she sticks around too, Gabe." Said Dom, as he noticed Gabe walking onto the bridge.
"How long we got before we get ta Empok Nor?" He asked, Full well knowing the answer, the math didn't take him long.
"Still two days out, we have time to convince her to stay, hate to jinx it, but sounds like she might stay after all." Said Dom, not wanting to jinx the fact she is going to say on the USS Ottawa, the idea of her staying made him smile for a moment.
"Good, hate ta have ta bake a goodbye cake, never did quite get the hang of that skill, not that I really ever tried ta be fair. I grew up on replicated food, what can I say?"
"There is a restaurant called "Corgy's, I will buy you lunch, and introduce you to real food, not this replicated substitute." Suggested Dom. Knowing that Gabe was probably going to say some witty comeback like, as long as your buying.
Gabe nodded, "I left my wallet in my other jacket, plus i'm pretty sure ya owe me a beer as well." He added, "So far this trip isn't sounding too bad."
"Deal, there is a bar I want to explore its called The White Stag, heard its a pretty hopping place." Suggested Dom, with a grin on his face. He was eager to be a little rowdy with his buddy.
