Mission: [USS Shanghai] S1, E3: Down Time
Location: USS Juno - Holodeck
Timeline: 05/16/2394, 1800 Hours

7..6...5..4..3..2..1

T'para eyes slowly drifted open as she felt her body kick upwards. It only took her a few seconds to reach the surface and breath in a big lungful of air. As her lungs filled with air and her mind returned to normal she gently manoeuvred herself over to the poolside. Grinning she checked the watch on her wrist. Just as she thought the time read twenty-eight munites.

She still had it. Less than her personal best, but still nothing to be ashamed off.

As the smell of chlorine filled her noise and water dripped off her black and blue bikini and boyshorts the hybrid felt a sense of calm flow over her. For some reason, she always felt safe near pools. Thankfully the ship had one installed in it. It was a feature she missed from the early years of the federation.

Her concentration was broken as she heard the doors open as the marine captain stepped through. " Hello there Dilucca. nice to finally meet you." the junior doctor said politely.

Charlena was wearing her bikini and her flip flops, as she wanted to go for a swim. She looked down to the vulcan hybrid doctor. "You are mistaken doctor, we have met before. When we rescued the prisoners from the Crescent. Your husband invited you to tag along as field medic." She put her towel over a chair and then sat down on the edge of the pool and put her feet in the water. "But it's nice meeting you again."

" My apologies. My mind goes into medical mode when I'm on an away mission. Still, we're all back and we got the prisoners back. You handled yourself well captain. I hope my husband and myself more than proved our selves to your marines. " The hybrid responded.

"Well, my mind goes marine mode, but I think that lets me notice everything more. And I must say you handled your own pretty well. My marines were impressed. So if you like, you can come over to the bar and enjoy a drink with them." She grinned as she extended the invitation to her. "They would also be interested to meet your husband again."

" Thanks, we'll do that. We'll just have to get a babysitter for the girls. You can thank those two for my combat abilities. It's amazing what inner strength you find you have when you have children waiting for you back at home. " The hybrid replied grinning.

Charlie nodded smiling as she stretched her arms. "I wouldn't know about that, I have no children of my own. But I do hope to have them some day." She moved her feet under the water. "What about that T'Meela girl? She is old enough to control the two rascals." She suggested.

" I guess. I'll have to have a word with her though I'm sure she can handle them. My two girls are rather well behaved. I just hope all the others will be just as nice." T'para said thinking fondly of the other children she and her mate had talked off having.

"Family expansion, I see, that's nice." Charlie finally slid in the nice warm water and went down with her head and then came back up. 'How about some laps, Lieutenant?" She asked.

" Sure. " came T'para's reply as she slid herself into the water with a splash. " You done much swimming?"

Charlie looked towards T'Para while keeping her head above the water. "I try to swim every day when I can. But you know, working on a starship does interrupt our normal routine. What about yourself, lieutenant?"

" I spend as much time in the water that I can. I don't know why, but I was always a natural swimmer. I'd considered an athletic career before i decided to join Starfleet. The girl like it as well though my mate is very bad at it." The hybrid responded grinning to herself.

"Well, there is probably lot you can do without swimming at the pool," said charlie grinning. "Maybe the hot tub or the Jacuzzi. Or a mud bath, I heard it can do wonders for your skin."

" Oh, I'd love to have one of them in our quarters. Sadly with two girls and another soon to be on the way we just don't have the room. " T'para siad her voice showing a slight hint of sorrow.

"That's the sacrifice you have to make when a having a big family on a starship. But you know, there is always the holodeck." Charlie offered.

" Oh, I know. The seas of Vulcan program is a favourite of mine. " T'para said as an idea suddenly crossing her mind. She'd have to look into it later. " Do you have any other family in Starfleet Charlie?" The doctor asked.

"My mother was in starfleet, she recently retired. I don't talk to her much. My father was a marine. He was dishonorably discharged for assaulting a superior officer. That's it. My sister died before I joined the service." She looked away as she had to think of her sister.

" I'm sorry to hear that. I never knew my parents they abandoned me and my sister on earth a few hours after we were born. My sisters in starfleet intel so I don't see or hear her much. I pity i miss her greatly. I'm sorry to hear about your sister." T'para responded sincerely.

Charlie smiled. "Thank you, and sorry to hear about your parents. But I am sure they had good reason for doing what they did. Despite the whole not being emotional, I never known a Vulcan that left their young all alone."

" I hope so. We've looked for them, but never found them. " T'para said as she thought to herself. The question always making her think. Her daughters had askes a few times and she always wondred.

"Don't beat yourself up about it, you have done what you could. Besides if you want them get in with their Vulcan heritage, you always have the doctor and her husband. They are grandparents now too, so there is always an option there," Charlena suggested.

" Oh, I know. T'San has offered to help me out if the girls want to know anything about there Vulcan side. She's a good friend." The hybrid responded as she moved over to one of the sides. " Up for some laps around the pool?"

"Yes, let's go," Charlie dived down under and came up a bit further and then waited for T'Para to catch up with her.

T'para nooded before diving down and formed up directly next to the marine commander. " On 3?" She said as she readied herself.

Charlena smiled at the vulcan. "Ok, 3!" She said and then swam away a bit laughing. Looking back to see if the Vulcan would catch up with er. She sure had the athletic body to do that. When she reached the other side of the pool she turned around to the Vulcan whom just arrived. "I see you keep on your toes. Very good!" She then grinned, "I will let you count next time."

" Okay then. On three. One ... Two... three." The hybrid said as she shot off across the pool.
