[USS Shanghai] S1, E5: Countdown
Location: Juno Gym
Timeline: 06/01/2394, 0500 Hours
Xalanth whistled to himself as he walked down to the ship's gym. A least when he got his mind focused on close combat it cleared out all the troubles that were floating around in his head. Stepping through the twin doors he nodded to a few people as he took a seat as he waited for his sparring partner to arrive.
Charlena walked in to the ship's gym. She was wearing shorts, a tank top and sneakers. Her hair in a ponytail. She was going to spar a bit with Xalanth. It was an interesting challenge to spar with the security chief. She would imagine he would have more strength and agility then her. She walked over to Xalant, who was sitting in the gym. "Hello, Lieutenant, sir, ready for a nice round of sparring?"
The lizard nodded as he finished wrapping some clothing around his knuckles before he stood up. " Indeed. I apologise in advance if i accidentally cut you. I keep these filled down, but I can still cut the outer layer of skin. " he said holding up his three fingers and their tips.
"Oh that's alright," said Charlie, " I have seen your wife do miracles with a dermal regenerator." She got on to the mat with Xalanth. "I wouldn't be a marine if I couldn't handle a bit of scratching, now would I." She got in position. "Not let's do this."
Xalanth nodded as he dropped into one of the dragonian martial art stances and began his attack. He let out several fake jabs and kicks to distract his opponent with the speed and strength of his people.
Xalanth was a quick opponent, Charlie had difficulty keeping up with him. She was just trying to avoid his attack and defend herself. It was hard to get something through herself. It was good exercise though.
A sly grin spread over the lizards face as he blocked an incoming blow from the marine. She was good, especially for a human. He could smell the sweat in the air and that odd pheromone in the air that always drove him on. " You fight well Charlena." He said as he blocked a punch she was making at his head.
Charlena was grinning too. "Thank you, sir," she said. She pulled her hand back. "You are very good, sir." She looked at him as she felt her face red flustered. She then blinked as she saw the room suddenly spinning, including the lizard in front of her. She saw him counter attack but stop. Something was wrong. Then everything turned black in front of her eyes as she fell sideways on the mat.
Xalanth mind raced as he saw his sparring partner stumble and began to fall back. With all of his speed, he raced forward and grabbed her before she fell to the floor. " Charlena. " he called to her as he did the basic health check he had drilled into his skull. Tapping his badge he called into it. =^= Xalanth to medbay medical emergency in the gym.=^=
Slowly Charlena regained conscious as she heard Xalanth's voice calling sickbay. "Lieutenant?" She asked. As she tried to get herself up. She was still a bit dizzy, but the room was spinning less now. Her legs felt weak, so she couldn't stand up just yet.
" Easy you almost fainted there. " The lizard said as he helped her over to one of the benches at the side. " Someone from sickbay should be on the way. How are you feeling?"
" A bit drowsy, but I think it's subsiding," Charlena blinked a bit as she put her hand on his shoulder. "This never happened before. I always have breakfast after exercise in the morning, never been a problem."
T'San came in, in a hurried pace, with her medkit and dropped down next to Charlena, taking out er tricorder and starting to scan her. "What happened?"
"This is so embarrassing," Charlena said, "I fainted." She put her hand on her face. "Lieutenant Xalanth caught me, but I think I am better now. Just help me up."
"I would stay down a few more minutes, Captain," The Vulcan doctor said, "Your blood sugar is way too low, as well as your hemoglobin levels. Did you have breakfast?"
Charlena shook her head. "I never have breakfast before I exercise. It's never been a problem."
T'San looked on her tricorder. "Well you better start doing that," T'San started, but Charlena interrupted her, "Why what's wrong?" She grabbed the medical tricorder and looked on it. She looked to T'San and then to Xalanth. She pulled herself up and pushed Xalanth and T'San away. "This can't be right. Your tricorder must be faulty."
T'San shook her head. "My tricorder is working in normal parameters. It is working fine!"
Charlena shook her head. "No, not now. You can't tell this to anyone." She looked to the readings on the tricorder. She then handed it back to T'San.
"You have to tell him, captain." T'San said.
"Yes, but not now." Charlena walked to Xalanth and moved close to him and whispered so no one could hear her. "Sir, please don't tell anyone, but..." She sighed and then whispered something else in his ear. "Please don't tell the captain, I will tell him myself. But please," she looked to T'San as well. "I don't want this to get to the captain. Not right now."
T'San just nodded.
The lizard nodded. He'd been in a similar situation around five years ago and he knew what a shock it could be. " I won't tell him, but if you want my advice go and tell him. It's better to let him know that to keep it bottled up." He said speaking from experience.
Charlena nodded, "I will as soon as things have settled down. He just found out he has 2 daughters, and he hasn't seen them in years, don't plan on throwing another one in so soon. It's just not the right moment now."
" If you need any help or advice me and my mate will be happy to help. Feel free to drop by and we'll do are best to help." The lizard replied quietly.
T'San walked to the two of them. "Captain, I think it's time for breakfast now."
" Oh, right, yes," Charlena said and nodded to Xalanth. "Thank you, sir. I will definitely come by when I need anything."
Xalanth nodded as he watched the two depart. This situation was far two regular occurrence on starships, but he always found it a rather welcome event. Life always did find a way.
