The alternate Ottawa had been away for 6 months now. They were investigating paranormal activity on a dead and forgotten planet. They were suppose to check back in after two months, but they were unable to move the ship or have any communication with anyone from starfleet. They were further studying the phenomena and have been back on the planet. Science is studying the dead language to find clues and everyone on the ship was pulling in all efforts and resources to find a way to escape the hold of the planet.

Captain's quarters
Lily was in the kitchen preparing dinner, she was humming softly. She looked sideways to the dining area where her husband James was setting the table. "James?" She asked in her ever so bubbly voice, "Would you mind getting some wine as well. I feel like have wine today." She smiled to him.
"Sure. White or red?" He asked.
"Red, please," She called out.
A dark shadow was moving around the room. It moved past the captain, piquing up his attention before it moved to the Kitchen before it grabbed hold of Lily. She was holding a plate off food. It dropped on the floor and it splattered. The dark shadow was holding the captains wife in the air, while also moving in her through her mouth. Her eyes darkened like the shadow. "James!" Lily's voice was dark and evil sounding. Lily had no control over her own body.
"Lily!" James tapped his commbadge. "Security to my quarters. Now!" James said. His mind flashed back to that shadow he barely noticed. "Shadow? Who are you? And why are you levitating my wife?!"
"Umbra." Said Lily's broken down dark and empty voice. But not much else. The shadow turned in to hands that that slowly stroke Lily's face, as the shadow was still holding her in the air. Gently they seem to hold Lily's face, but then quickly snapped Lily's neck. The shadow let the lifeless body of Lily drop on the floor. But the shadow had taken the shape of a female now and stood in front of the dead body looking at James.
"Lilly?!"
Before James could reach her, the shadow lunged forward and pushed James to the floor and held him down. She held her dark face close to his. She pushed her claw like hands in his arms, till they were bleeding. She then moved her hands up to his face and clawed his cheeks. She held up to her dark hand and arm that was now dripping with blood. James was still alive.
Umbra was sitting on top of James and then trusted her hand in his chest. It was then the doors open. Umbra turned to the Security chief. And pulled out James heart. She held it up as the lifeless body of the Captain dropped down. She then dropped the heart and disappeared.
Jazin could hardly believe what he saw. Much less what to do with it.. Then he reacted, by letting out the contents of his stomach. He slid down a bulkhead, into a sitting position.
"I'm supposed to protect. How could I have let this happen? He held his head in his hands. Tears streamed down. He knew that he had a job to do.
But he just couldn't move.
"That will happen to me." He repeated over and over.
----------------------------------------------
Ellie was sitting on the bridge and tapped her badge. "Security, this is the bridge, please report!" She had no idea what was going on. "Commander, what is going on?" She waited patiently for an answer.
"The Captain..Lillly.." he stammered. "Dead." was all that he could say
The words hit her like the back of a phaser rifle. She hadn't seen what he had seen. But as the acting skipper she had to. She had to start an investigation in to the cause of his dead. She heard the tone in Jazin's voice and that worried her. She wallowed and then said, "Jazin, please have their bodies removed and get me to the footage of the captain's quarters. I'll be in the captain's ready room. Sheppard out."
She got up. "Lieutenant, you have the bridge," She ordered before disappearing in to the captain's ready room. Once inside she allowed herself to feel the loss. The loss of a captain and the loss of a good friend. The Captain has always been her confident, the one she trusted with everything, next to Jazin of course. Shaking she took the frame from the captain's desk and looked at the image. It was Lily. She has been so good to the crew. A listening ear, an advisor, a counselor.
She dropped in the couch and remained there till Jazin would walk in.
Jazin gathered all the evidence he could. Which wasnt really much. Footage and still photos. His guys were still giving the quarters the once over. Which gave the trill the opportunity to at least splash water on his face before going in to the ready room. He rang the chime
"Enter!" Ellie called out. She then got up as Jazin walked in. "Jazin..." She had no idea what to say. The death of both the captain and his wife were very unexpected. She hadn't expected to be put in this situation so quickly. So many missions together. They were two great friends. Jazin looked like a wreck. She could only imagine what he was going trough. He found them. She slowly walked to him and took his hands. "Are...are you alright?"
"I'll be ok." He said. "And if you believe that, I'll sell you beach property on Andor." He half smiled. "It was..quite a scene."
She sighed and pulled him closer to her and put her arms around him. "I don't know what you've seen, but it must be pretty bad. I can hear it in your voice. You have to show me the footage, and you don't have to watch with me if you don't want to. I can tell it will be horrifying, but I have no choice, I must see it for myself. I must see what we are dealing with.
"I'll watch it. I won't like it, but I'll.watch it." He said.
She sat down behind the captain's desk and turned on his computer. She put the data chip in and started playback. Ellie had seen a lot in her time as Captain Culbertson's first officer. She was trained for this situation, and so was Jazin. But a paranormal energy so powerful that it could snap Lily's neck like that just rip out the captain's heart out, she had never seen in her life, let alone in her career. She jumped up herself at the last bit and ran to the captain's in office lavatory to empty her own stomach.
She cleaned her mouth a little and then dropped on the floor. "Oh...God..." She pushed out. "What...that's..." She was panting heavily.
"Exactly what I was thinking." He said. "Don't know what to say"
