Mission: [JM USS Shanghai] S1, E7: The Dragonian Code

Timeline: MD001 1130 hrs

The sector commanders had beamed down, safe Captain Anderson, as he had already beamed down to the surface before they had arrived. They were all wearing their dress uniform and waited for the Dragonians to meet them. Once this first meeting would have gone well, could they agree upon more personnel to beam down.

John straightened his uniform and gave one last look to his medals as he turned to his sister standing next to him. "Thank you for the ride sister. I wouldn't have mind travelling with Captain Bers."

"Oh, nonsense," said Ellie,"This overall looked like a family mission, so I would want to travel with family." She grinned. "You look great, John, stop fiddling with your uniform." She didn't know why she said that, she was quite uncomfortable herself. This was the first time she had put on her dress uniform again in over nine years.

Kitara on the other hand seemed to be very comfortable on the Dragonian planet. She had been reading up on these Dragonians. A proud warrior race, with code and honor. She was going to enjoy her stay here.

It wasn't long before a small group of dragonians appeared from the tunnel. Four were wearing the standard grey jumpsuit and armour of the dragonain legion along with the standard ceremonial pike with slung assault rifles overt here shoulders. The other simply war the jumpsuit with a purple cloak wrapped around him. He was grey scaled with a mix of yellow wrapping around his face and matched the feathers on his head. " Greetings federation friends. I am senator Yldryn and i welcome you to my colony. " He replied calmly.

Ellie stepped forward and bowed to the Dragonian Senator. "Greetings and salutations from the Federation. We are the sector commanders in this sector that you have so cordially invited." She said polite. "I am Colonel Ellis Ijaan, commanding officer of the USS Ottawa." She then turned to the others in her company. "And these are, Colonel John Sheppard, Military commander of the sector and colony governor of Port Royale. Commander Kitara of the house of Paghal, she is our Medical director. Captain Daniella Williams, Commanding officer of the USS Saigon and Captain Bervag Bers, Commanding Officer of the Starbase Port Royale." She introduced them and then continued on, saying, "We thank you for inviting us to your side of the galaxy." She bowed again.

" I welcome all of you. I hope this...." The lizard began before raising his head to his ear hole. " Qadhu I'm very busy... pull some of the work crews from the third tunnel and get it working." He said softly into his head piece. Looking back to the starfleet personnel. " My apologies. Some of the bio forms aren't liking the climate here. Where behind schedule with installing the third power reactor. If you'll follow me i'll give you a tour."

"Thank you, Senator," Said Ellie, "If you need any assistance with anything here, as good neighbors the Federation will offer any help do you may need. We have some very good engineers that could help you. I could ask my chief engineer, Commander Sharp, to come down with a team. He is one of the best engineers we got in the fleet."

" That would be appreciated though are biotech is very complicated. " The lizard said as he walked past one of the currently depowered burrowers. " Marvouls tech, but they don't seem to like the environment here. " He said slapping the mass of flesh and machinery.

Harry had walked along side Ellie and the others as they were given a tour. "What are the tunnels being made?" Asked Harry. He was a little curious, to why they were creating tunnels. It was part of the tour, so in his mind. It should be an appropriate question to ask.

" The colony is being built into the mountain. The storms on this planet can strip the flesh from your bones so an outside colony would be too costly. Most of these tunnels are for storage or future expansion. The main colony is this way. " The senator said leading the group down the tunnel.

"Senator Yldryn, I am speaking strictly from a standpoint of curiosity, but why did you choose a planet with a hostile atmosphere? " Asked Harry, hoping the good senator would open to discuss the matter.

" Many reasons. Are religious will tell you we can only exist in such an environment so the ancestors can test us, are anti federation personnel will say it to prove we can do anything better than the federation, are builders will say it's because they haven't had time to build a functional settlement in other environment and the practical among us will say it's because no one else wanted this place." The ambassador said as he lead them through the tunnels eventually they came to an opening which lead to something remarkable. The centre of the mountain range had been hollowed out leaving a massive living space which at the center a city was rising from the rock. " Welcome to are home. I hope you like it. " The senator said as a smile spread over his face. He was obviously very happy with his work.

Harry looked around with excitement on his face. The engineering marvel, that he was seeing was breath taking. Wow he thought to himself, as he leaned over to Avril. "This place is amazing, maybe later on we can do some sight seeing later on tonight, if that's okay with you Senator Yldrn." He said with excitement in his voice.

"Of course. As soon as the trading of the water ceremony is done tonight and the festivals begin you and your people shall have free reign of our city. " The senator replied as he eban leading them into the city. " I apologise for most of the outer area's being empty. There fore a planned two hundred year growth. " He explains as many of the stone buildings stood empty without any doors.

"Understood and thank you, we are looking forward to the water ceremony." Said Harry as he looked over to his command crew, wondering if anyone else was going to speak up. He did not want to hog the senator to himself.

Ellie waited patiently for her colleague captain to be silent and then said, "Senator, we would like to discuss the beam down of our respected crews. We don't want to overwhelm your people and concede to your rules. I would also like to extend an invitation to your people to visit us on our ships." She smiled.

Harry was slightly annoyed that Ellie was inviting people to his ship, but he would have done the same thing. So he let the comment go. He was curious how the senator would respond to seeing the state of Aventine class and the Insignia Class. Both ships were pretty state of the art, and well proven in battle.

" The crews of the Federation ships will be welcome to explore our city. We have a very good security force and as soon as the ceremony happens you should have no problem with our people. We have several apartment buildings prepared in case any of you're people which to stay here. I'm sure are special forces would like a visit to your ships though i advise you to keep an eye on them." Replied the senator.

"I'll give that honor to Colonel Sheppard. She is a marine and can handle it." Said Harry with a quick response. "Maybe the Dragonian Special Forces can give her marines a few pointers." He teased, with a big grin on his face.

" You'll have to take it up with Zigarth their commander. I warn you though he's one of our people who don't have a high opinion of the federation. " The senator replied

"I would like to correct my colleague, captain Anderson," Said Ellie, "It's Colonel Ijaan, I recently got married. And I command the USS Ottawa. For the command of marines in this sector I like to refer you to my brother, Colonel Sheppard." She grinned.

John grinned. "Sounds to me this special forces commander is a hard ass. I would gladly get acquainted with Zigarth." He turned to Kitara. "Join me commander. Asside from a Klingon warrior I may need a doctor.

Kitara laughed. "I would gladly, sir." She said.

" My apologies. Your race is very odd with two names and you're changing off them. Zigarth will be here for the festival. He's taken his men on a march in the deep desert. Ah, here we are." He said as they came to a big public square. A stone platform ran along it largest side were a few workers who were busy instaling decorations. Perched atop one of the buildings a sandy yellow yarvan sat and turned it's neck to look at the new visitors. It gave an obvious sniff at the new visitors.

"Oh no, senator. No apologies needed. I was explaining this to my colleague, captain Anderson. This was absolutely know fault of anyone. No one, aside from my brother, colonel Sheppard is aware that I married recently. I was just telling the captain." She waved her hands as to wave it all away. "You know what, forget it. Please continue with your tour, senator, it's quite interesting."

Bervag just kinda hung back, let the others speak. That's not to say he wasn't interested. Quite the opposite actually. But for now he was content to just soak up the experience. A quick from a previous host.

" Very good. If you'll accompany me I'll show you the control center. Oh has everyone gotten the water needed for the ceramony?" The lizard asked.

Ellie nodded. "Our doctors has taken the water as instructed by commander T'San." She explained.

" Very good. Now if you'll follow me we have a lot more to see. " the senator said as he lead the way deeper into the city.
