1,085 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: [Joint Mission]Happy ever after
Location: USS Shanghai sickbay
Timeline: MD003 1430

T'San heard the Shanghai had docked at the base and wanted to go visit her old command and see how T'Para was doing. Other than over the visual communication she hadn't seen for herself how T'Para was doing. She walked on to sickbay and found it was just the way as she left it. She stood next to a bio bed. "T'Para?" She called.

T'para had been sitting on one of the biobeds as another round of tests. Over the days she been getting used to her new body. Having two sets of wings, horns and a tail had made it hard getting dressed, but she was slowly getting used to it. She turned when she heard her name be called and saw her former boss. " Hey, their T'San how are you doing." She said politely.

"I am doing alright," T'San. "Unlike you, I see." She walked to the biobed. "It is agreeable to see you, though maybe better under different circumstances." She looked at the monitor. "Have all these testing revealed anything?"

" Other than my DNA truly has been rewritten and what all my extra bits are now made off. It looks like I'm going to be stuck like this for the rest of my life." The hybrid said as she looked over at the results.

T'San looked at the hybrid. "Are you willing to accept this, T'Para? I know it may some time, wouldn't you want to work on some solution? And like you told me it was a device that did this. Shouldn't we investigate the possibility that this is reversible? Like when we all had body swapped, we worked it out. We got scientist that can look in to this."

The hybrid shook her head. She knew Xalnths report hadn't become public knowledge yet. " We had to break the device to give the altered colonists their minds back. Section 31 may know more, but their operative who started that mess gave us the slip. Starfleet medical still has no way of reversing the collective genetic engineering so I'm stuck like this without a miracle."

T'Lara nodded. "Understood. You are very strong, T'Para. Will you be remaining on the Shanghai?"

A slight grin came over the hybrid's face as she looked at her mentor and friend. " Off course, I'm staying. I'm not leaving my family or work because of this. Just need to learn how to work with all of these as well as replacing my wardrobe. The tails especially hard. "

Reaching into her pocket the hybrid pulled out a padd. " This is the new DNA that's been added to me in case you want to see it. Half the DNA is from species we don't even know or have recorded off. "

T'Lara took the PaDD from T'Para and looked on it. She scratched her head. "It is quite possible of the DNA is indigent to the Gamma quadrant..." She didn't finish the sentence. She put the it down. "I have worked with your DNA a lot and couldn't find anything, but now I realize this looks familiar." She looked to T'Para, do you mind if I hold on to this information?"

" Be my guest it's been backed up on the computer. " T'para said calmly as he lower set of wings flapped slightly. " I still need to work out if i can fly with these things. Don't suppose you'd be willing to help?" She inquired.

T'San looked at the wings. "Impressive wings they are. I think we could take a shuttle down to the colony and practice down at the airfield near the colony's main city. We would have all the room there to have you test your wings."

T'para smiled and thanked her mentor as the door to the sickbay opened as the lizard stepped through the door. His arm still had a regenerator clipped to it. Smileing upon seeing his mate and T'San he walked over to them " T'San good to see you again."

T'San nodded to Xalanth. "Captain, it is agreeable to see you. How is your new command?"

" The ships fine though I doubt command is going to be happy with the results. Having a whole colony turned into genetic chimeras isn't going to make high command happy." He said with a sigh.

"Are you being called to the admiral's office, or the office of one of the Generals?" T'San asked. Being asked to one of the brass would make it sound more serious. "Because that is a sign of high command not being happy. But somehow I doubt it will cause you too much of problem. From your reports I understand most of the colony was already turned in to genetic chimeras."

" I know doctor, but I think high command isn't going to be happy to now have a colony that will need specialist help on their patch along with the crescent threat." The lizard added letting out a slight sigh.

T'San put her hand on the Lizard's shoulder as a little comfort, even though her face was expressionless. "Captain, I know the bras is on their way to the base, I am sure they will contact you for a debriefing. I know you will inform them of the situation. I know General O'Donnaghue and General Meran are fair men." She looked from Xalanth to T'Para. Her lips slightly curled in to a smile. It was as close to an emotional respond she got.

" Thank you for the kind words doctor." Xalanth said his eye turning to his mate. " So how my wife doing doctor?"

T'San looked to T'Para and said, "Aside from the obvious changes, I would say she is in perfect health, sir. For what ever hybrid this is. I am curious to check her dna to be honest. I have found some similarities in the Dna. I am not making any promises, but I am hoping we could find a solution."

" I'm sure you and the rest of starfleet medical will do everything in their power to find a solution," T'para said sliding off the bed and gripping her mates hand.

T'San nodded. "Of course. Well, other than you might have to get used to your new attachments, I would say you are fit for duty. Take good care of the Shanghai, Lieutenant." There was a slight glow in her eyes and her just barely moved. It was hard to tel if she was actually smiling.
