[USS Shanghai]Exchange orders

Location: USS Shanghai-Shuttlebay
Timeline: MD001 1100 hrs

- Shuttlebay -

Down in the shuttlebay the runabout landed on the Shanghai, Craig fixed his uniform before stepping off the runabout “Commander Thorrin nice to hear from you I’ll wait here” Craig said as he waited with his marines.

Thorrin thought that he would do anything to escape that meeting, so the communique was a welcome change. He arrived at the shuttlebay and saw the Major General. Something was afoot and Thorrin was going to get to the bottom of it. While the summons was welcome, the number of Marines on the ship was not. “General, sir, welcome to the Shanghai. How can I be of service?”

Craig looked to all who were in attendance “Thorrin it’s nice to see you again” He said smiling as he stepped off Craig “I’m here to take momentary command for this mission, marines are but a formality” he said smiling again “At ease marines” He said looking to them “I have a need for a man of your talents Thorrin, my nephew has just taken his first command and well I’m not comfortable with the fact that their lead engineer doesn’t know how crescent systems work” he said looking around “I would like it if it suits you for you temporarily to transfer to the USS Siren once she gets here to act not only as engineer liaison but as a command team member you have a very good rapport within this fleet and I would like you to oversee how that ship is run for its first mission” Craig said looking to Thorrin.

Thorrin cocked an eyebrow, he had to wonder. He wondered exactly why the General would be taking command of the ship. What’s more is he wondered why the General would send the XO away on an exchange program. One that Thorrin did not apply for nor did he want to be a part of. However, these thoughts would have to wait for the time being. “As the Executive Officer of this ship, if that is where you need me, then that is where I shall be.”

Craig looked to Thorrin "thank you for understanding Thorrin i'll see to it your back here in no time" He said smiling at him "you have leave to go and grab your things and i'll send for a runabout to drop you off once the siren docks with new haven" he said looking around "Any questions?" He asked with a smile.

"Yes, one question. To be frank sir why? Why am I being sent on an exchange program that I did not apply for? I will go as you are ordering me to do so. However, I believe I have the right to know why." Thorrin stood resolutely as he looked at the General. This whole situation rubbed Thorrin the wrong way and he was going to figure out what was going on if it cost him his career.

Then the doors to the shuttlebay opened. A red head strolled in. She wore a teal colored uniform and the pips on her colar revealed she was a commander. "There you are!" She said to the general. She then turned to Thorrin. She tilted her head a little. "Commander. I am here to talk about your exchange orders." She then took the padd from the General's hands. She smiled to her husband and started reading from the padd. "By order of Admiral Llewellyn you are hereby ordered to take on an exchange assignment of one mission with the USS Siren. This to familiarise the USS Siren with the current situation in the Gamma Quadrant. You will remain assigned to the USS Shanghai. In your absense, Lieutenant Commander Alexandra Alexander will be assigned to the USS Shanghai to obtain information on the Gamma Quadrant and the Crescent. These orders will go in effect in ten days, at which time you need to report to the Siren. The Siren will return you to the Shanghai upon completion of the exchange." She then handed the padd to her husband who was still standing there.

She smiled. "How was that?" She then pulled out a lollipop and handed it to Thorrin. "I am Commander Layla Meran O'Donnaghue, chief medical officer of the USS Jackdaw. Lollipop?"

Thorrin cocked an eyebrow at the new arrival and the lollipop in his hand. "No thank you..." his honeyed New Orleans accent came out. He was not happy about these orders. "I understand all of what you said, and I did not have to hear it. My question still remains how can anyone issue an order for an exchange program that I did not apply for?" The El Aurian was angered although he did not show it. He also figured that he was barking up the wrong tree.

Layla could tell he was getting annoyed. She took a deep breath before she started on the next ranting, "Commander," She handed him the padd, "Orders were given by order of admiral Llewellyn, as you can read, 'by order of starfleet command, Commander Thorrin, first officer USS Shanghai is to report to the USS Siren to take up the position of First for the duration of one mission, to exchange information about the Crescent.' You are a starfleet officer, given an order by an admiral. Do you wish to ignore this order?"

"No actually I wish to confirm the order with the Admiral. Considering that according to Starfleet General Orders no officer can be transferred without their expressed consent. Since I have net yet given my consent then this transfer is not valid, well at least not yet. That said Commander I will be off to speak with the Admiral." Thorrin said very short and clipped, he had been serving in the fleet since before this Commander was a glimmer in her father's eye. However, he bit his tounge rather than explode upon her. He mustered to attention and continued to speak. "That is of course with your leave sir." He addressed the General, and when Thorrin was given permission he would go to his quarters to contact the Admiral directly.

Craig looked thorin "by all means commander" he said with his face furrowing, he was starfleet brass of course "I conform your orders commnader but by all means check with the admiral" he said looking over to his marines " Once the siren arrives i will send a shuttle for you" he said turning about and heading back.

Thorrin left the Shuttle Bay angrier then when he had entered, if that was even possible. He was not about to accept this transfer. Not without a fight.
