Mission: [USS Ottawa] S1, E3: The True Way
Location: Engineering/Gabe's workshop

Ellie walked to Gabe's workshop. She has been here now more in one day, then she has been since her return from the Paranormal universe. But she had a special request to make with Gabe. She had thought long and hard about it. As there was no time to call her father in this fast for the wedding. And she had no idea where he would be stationed after 9 years and Jazin requested her if John could be his best man.

Gabe was busy looking for something in the cupboard of his workbench, as he heard the doors open he raised his head hitting his head as he did.

"Bloody buggerin' farse." He grumbled as the back of his head hit the inside of the cupboard.

He stood up, rubbing the back of his head. "Good ta see ya again Colonel, Ta what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" He asked as he moved around the bench.

Ellie looked around a bit nervous. Gabe wasn't really paying attention so she wasn't sure if she should ask. Of course as the highest ranking officer she could order him to listen. She then took a deep breath. "Lieutenant, Mister Sharpe, Gabriel?" Her tone was a bit uncomfortable.

"All of those work." He said with a smile, "Though Gabe is just as good Colonel."

He grabbed a towel from the workbench and wiped the dirt and grease from his hands.

"Ya seem a little distracted, is everythin' okay?"

"I am fine, thank you, Gabe. I am not here as your superior, please call me Ellie," She said, "I am just occupied. As you know I am getting married soon." She walked closer to him and then continued, "I was hoping if you could give me away on the wedding."

Gabe took a few seconds to think over the question he'd just been asked.

"I... Well that is ta say..." Gabe started, he took a deep breath and continued, "If I may ask Ellie... why me?"

"Because, I couldn't get my father here in time and you would think I could have asked my brother, but Jazin so wanted to ask him to be his best man I just couldn't refuse." She paused a moment and then continued, "And the captain will officiating of course so I couldn't just ask anyone." She then crossed her arms. "I was able to share with you something real personal that I was only able to share with Jazin before. So I thought you would make a great choice."

"I see." Gabe replied with a nod. "Well then in that case, I'd be honoured."

Gabe wiped his hands again, "Glad ya think so highly of me Col... Ellie."

While he was honoured, he wasn't too sure he was the right person for the task, but it was Ellie's choice.

"Thank you," She replied. "Oh, you do know how to dance right? Cause aside from giving me away, you will also have to dance with me."

Gabe smiled, "Dance wasn't one of the classes I took at the academy no. I have ta admit dancin' isn't exactly somethin' I'm known for." He said , "Looks like there's another skill I'm gonna have ta learn. Ya really know how ta make me feel like I'm behind the curve don't ya?" He added with a chuckle.

Ellie smiled. "It's alright, it doesn't have to be so fancy. It's just a simple wedding."

"Oh good, so what exactly is a not fancy but simple dance... ya gonna have ta give me a few hints here Ellie." He replied, not sure what sort of dancing would be needed.

Ellie thought about that a moment. She then shrugged, "I don't know either, maybe we can just slow dance? A little swaying."

"It's ya wedding Ellie, I'll let ya make the choice. I'm not the important one in all this, ya are." He said, putting his hand on her shoulder, "I'll do whatever is required of me."

"Thank you, Gabe it's all I am asking," Said Ellie. "I am glad to have you on board." She smiled to him. "Don't keep yourself cooped up here, you are on shore leave too." And then added whispering, "They have great whiskey on Risa."

"Well that is an upside." Gabe said with a chuckle, "Well since everyone seems to be pushing me to take some time off, I guess I'm gonna have to now aren't I?"

"Sounds like it," said Ellie. "I am not making it an order. But go have fun." She walked to the door and turned around, "One more thing, Umbra, is not so powerful here. The paranormal energies aren't so high here." She then walked out grinning.
