Mission: [USS Ottawa] S1, E2: Empok Nor
Timeline: May 14, 2394 0900

Commander Bers was waiting on the rest of his away team. The roster was unchanged from last time, with one exception. The addition of the ships CSciO. His reasoning was that the first mission went well, so why mess with the formula for now. Also, adding science was logical to him. who better to help find clues about the cylinder than the person who knew the most about it.

He had already armed himself when he arrived.

T'San walked in with a medical kit and took the handphaser from the transporter officer. She took out her medical tricorder to see if it worked properly and then stood next to Bers.

Kimoni checked the strap on the science kit that hung over her shoulder as she stepped through the door to the transporter room. She thanked the transporter chief as they handed her a holstered phaser. She cycled the phasers power setting, then sure everything was okay she attached the holster to her uniform.

"Is there anything else you can tell me tell me about the cave you found the cylinder in?" She asked, moving up to the group.

"Similar to caves found near where a lived on Earth years ago." Bervag said. Flanked by scrubby bushes. A dry riverbed led up to it. A lack of any notable rock formations. Other than that not much else."

"Hmm, Interesting. Nothing to mark it as anything other then a generic rock formation."

"Exactly."

" No special markings or anything of significant notice other than it's location close to the colony." The dragonan said stepping through the doors a rifle slung over his shoulder.

T'San nodded and got on the pad. "Lead the way, commander." She didn't think it to be logical to keep talking about in a transporterroom.

Bers nodded. As the quartet stepped onto the transporter pad he gave his nod. Within a few seconds they appeared on the planet. Bervag cleared his throat. "Our mission here is a simple one. Find out more about that canister that we have already. Main thing is finding something that will let us get a better understanding of the thing itself. That being said, any intel would be valuable." he said. He made sure of the settings on his phaser.

"Mr Xalanth, you're on point. We won't be far away. Lieutenant Jexen, you're with Xalanth. You know more about the object than the rest of us, so you can lead us in the right direction." he said. "Any questions before we shove off?"

" None sir." The reptile responded checking his rifle just in case.

Bers nodded.

"No more questions Commander." Kimoni replied, preparing for the tingling sensation she always felt when she used the transporter.

"No questions, commander," She sorted her medkit one more time.

"Good, good. Lets go then." Bervag said. He fell in beside T'San as Xalanth took point.

Xalanth lead the way to the cave still knowing the route. It was still the same other than some signs of the local wildlife having moved back into he area. Soon the cave appeared before them. The lizard scanned the area before approching. " Clear" He said after a short while.

Bervag nodded to both him and Jexen. "Weapons where you can get them, just incase." he said, giving the go ahead to enter.

Kimoni drew her Phaser, holding it in her right hand, her Tricorder in her left. He watched the screen, looking for anything that seemed out of place. So far all that seemed out of place was that nothing appeared to be out of place.

"Well This all seems normal... a little too normal for my liking." Kimoni said, scanning around the cave.

Bervag entered next, head darting around just to be safe. He studied the walls of the cave for any inscriptions or anything that might shed some light on anything. So far he was coming up empty. Then again archeology wasn't his forte, a little biology from Bers only.

Kimoni extended the scan range on her tricorder and raised an eye brow, She ran a second scan to be sure.

"I detecting traces of a similar Chromium/Inconel alloy to the Object you brought back." She said, checking the screen on her tricorder, "Half a kilometre to the north west."

"No life signs in the area, I think it's safe to go there." Said T'San, but she knew Xalanth would take point anyway to confirm that.

Bervag perked his head up at the news something had been found. He motioned for the team to start heading that way. He nodded to Xalanth who took point. After hearing no life signs, he put his phaser away. He went with the group. They covered the distance in a relatively short amount of time. The lack of life signs did unnerve him a little, but didn't let that catch on.

He whipped out his own tricorder to confirm Kimoni's readings, sure enough they were right on top of it. He began to make a visual sweep.

Kimoni moved slowly towards the signal, her hand gripping her Phaser tightly. She could feel Jexen's apprehension about their current situation.

"For the record, I'd just like to say I don't like this, this doesn't feel right." She said, before adding under her breath, "... Being led around by the nose."

"Agreed." Bervag said. "It's like they want us to find these things." he said, rubbing his chin. And apparently it was working because he noticed a glint out of the corner of his eye. He retrieved what looked like a data pad. "It's never that easy." he said to himself as he showed Kimoni his find.

She nodded as she checked Tricorder. "That's the source of the Chromium/Inconel readings, matches closely to the Cylinder." She knelt down beside the tablet, carefully picking it up and turning it in her hand, "I do believe we have what we came for."

He nodded. Privately he wondered what was going to happen as he signaled Juno for beamout.
