Mission:
[USS Ottawa] S1, E1: Abducted
Location: Engineering
Timeline: MD 1, 1500
Domingo walked into to engineering bay, "You know its customary for a new chief engineer to report to the captain apon arrival." Pointed out Domingo as he walked over to give his good friend a hug.
Gabe chuckled, "Ya know me kiddo." He said as he hugged Domingo back, "Sorry, Captain. Had ta make sure everything was working fine down here."
"It's been to long my friend." He said, knowing Gabriel was more interested in getting the engines fined tuned, and not about protocol. Domingo also knew Gabriel was one of the best engineers in the fleet. When his name came open for the position of Chief Engineer, he grabbed him before anyone else could.
"Aye it has at that, things got a bit dark for a while, took me a fair ta pull my head out. Just glad I did, after 205 I kinda coasted. Ta be honest I'm surprised I kept my commission." Gabe said, flicking the pips on his collar, "Paid for it though."
"You'll get them back, Starfleet just loves putting pips and ribbons on Starfleet officers." Dom said joke fully, but knowing damn well it was true.
"As long as I ta set up shop in engineering, I'm happy. I'm a simple guy that way." Gabe replied adjusting his engineer's waistcoat.
"I am grateful that you accepted the assignment, I could only imagine getting stuck with a rookie." Domingo teased.
"How are my engines, new ship, do they pass the Sharpe Inspection?" He asked playfully.
"They pass, doesn't mean I won't be tinkering with them." Gabe added with a smile, "The dry dock crew managed not to completely screw everything up, which is nice."
"That is a change, we are about ready to push out of dock, got ourselves a rescue mission, are we ready to depart for Cestus III?" Asked Domingo. In a more direct tone.
Gabe folded his arm across his chest, his mind already running through details that were mostly unimportant right now.
"Cestus III, Joint Federation Gorn controlled planet located in the Beta Quadrant. Named Inner Elinar by the Gorn. Capital, Pike City, thought to be named after Christopher Pike, Second Captain of the USS Enterprise." Gabe chuckled, "Career may have stalled, but the mind is still tight as a drum."
"What's going down on Cestus III that we're needed?"
"Gorn Commander hired mercenaries to capture the first officer brother, some revenge thing. We have a small window before the mercenaries turn over Colonel Sheppard, we are playing interference with the money transfer. " Said Domingo. He looked around the room. Everyone seemed ready to go.
"Revenge is a dish best served with Gold pressed Latinum huh? Well we're all ready here, it'll be smooth sailin' all the way. Ya got a plan for when we get there?
"It's a small building with a handful of guards, thinking heavily armed team extract him by force." Suggested Dom.
"Could work, they gotta be quick though. If it turns inta a firefight they may just freak and take him out. It's been known ta happen."
"Mercenaries are not looking for a big fight, if we start pushing, they are going to withdrawal, a Gorn Commander can not afford, to hire them to take on a ship full of heavily armed security officers." He suggested, he knew Mercenaries would only honor the agreement of capture, he had a feeling they would not help him fight off the Federation. There was no profit in it.
"Chances are one of 'em'll break and lead right back to the Commander." Gabe said with a nod, "Which could also lead ta a problem, If the Gorn Commander think's he's in danger of exposure, he could just take out the whole group."
"We will handle the Gorn Commander, just another day in the office for Gabe and Dom." He suggested with a grin. Typically Dom would be in over his head, and Gabe would have to save him. Dom slapped him on the arm with a big grin on his face.
"Dom, I haven't fire a phaser at anything other then range target in over 4 years. I get my uniform's gold but I'm an engineer not a crack security officer." Gabe said, unsure of himself for the first time in the last few months.
It hadn't been that long since he'd managed to pull himself out of the circle of depression that had threatened to destroy him. For three years he'd been locking in a cycle of overworking himself and avoiding contact with others.
The way he saw it, were he to join the team it could go one of two ways, Either he'd be able to operate the way he used to or it could send him backwards.
"I know my friend, just briefing you on the mission, I need you here in engineering. If we need to leave quickly, I know you can get us out of a tight jam. You have done it before." He said.
Gabe nodded, silently glad he wasn't on the away team, the situation bringing back a few bad memories.
"Don't worry, we'll keep the engines warm ready for a last second escape run." He said with a smile, "I'll also do what I can to make sure the transporters have a steady lock on ya during the run, we both know how quickly these things can go south."
"I new I could count on you, after this over well have a drink." Said Dom, as he started to walk out engineering.
"Sounds good ta me Captain."
