Harry was relieved that both of his daughters were now safe. It was very nice of Commander Xalanth, to allow Peyton and Carly a safe place to stay in a more secure area. He was concerned about them spending alone time. But after what happened here, better to be safe than sorry. He also told himself, non of his kids wanted to be here. Carly made that clear, and Kerja wanted to be with her mother. And it appeared that Peyton, was interested in Carly, or was it Samantha, the little blond girl he was talking to earlier? It was hard to tell. Kids, are a complicate.

Charlena was sitting at a table. She was drinking a dragonian drink. She never had it, and the taste was kind of strange, but overall it wasn't bad. She saw Harry walking about and she got up. "Captain, I know you may not like what I said earlier, and I may not be a parent, but I am a daughter. My parents weren't there for me when I grew up. All I had was my younger sister and she died. I know how Kerja feels right now. Although her mother isn't sleeping around with half of starfleet and her father isn't drunk in some bar right now," she laughed a little, nervously. "But," she continued, "I can tell she doesn't want to be alone right now, with her mom being in sickbay, she would want you to be there for her. Earlier when she came to me, she didn't want my protection, she wanted yours. She reached out for you. And you send her back to the ship alone. I am not going to tell you how to parent, but if you do have a moment to spare, go to her. You don't have to say anything, just be there."

"Drop the topic, were here at the request of the Dragonian Delegation. I suggest we find Commander Xalanth, and continue this function." Insisted Harry, with an annoyed look on his face. He was not interested in continuing any conversation with Charlena, especially in regards to his daughters. She was crossing the line, and he did not appreciate it.

Charlena put her glass down. "No thank you, sir, I think I will return to the ship. Unless you want to order me to stay. In which case I would like to remind you that you stated prior to coming here that this was an optional occasion." She walked away from the table and then stopped a moment. "I am going to get myself a bottle of what ever this is with me. I like it."

"Very well Major, have a good evening." Harry said, realizing they would have to talk later. But at the moment, he needed to focus on the festivities at hand.

He was not very happy that everyone was trying to tell him, how lousy of a father he was. He already knew that, but he was not going to take chances with their lives. End of story. But that was another topic, for another time.

At the moment, Harry needed to focus on getting this party back in order. He started to walk over towards Xalanth.

-----

Alyssa never been to a diplomatic occasion before. There were drinks everywhere and a lot of distractions for her not to look in people eyes. The Dragonians were warriors, they must have seen a lot. And she wasn't really eager to see that happening in her head. She was sitting at a table with two Vulcans. They were in the middle of the commotion earlier, she wisely decided to stay out of. She casually smiled to them before get some of the food and drinks on the table.

Dan smiled back at her as he put some food in his mouth. He tapped on T'San's shoulder. "Remind me to get some Dragonian recipes. Love to make that for the crew some times."

"Yes," said T'San, "I think Commander Xalanth and T'Para would like that." She turned over to Alyssa. "Doctor Alyssa Walkers, Psychiatrist and Medical officer. I am Lieutenant Commander T'San. First officer of the Star base Port Royal. I read your article on therapy in sickbay."

Alyssa lighted up. "Commander T'San, you are one of few then, as far as I know. Most people think counseling and medical practice should be kept apart. But I do believe that the mental state of a patient in sickbay is just as important to consider as their physical state."

T'San nodded. "I agree, doctor, I found it interesting to read how you approach this and how doctors should train to not just ask about their physical states but also to inquire to their mental states. And I am also a strong believer of a cooperation between counselling and medical. I have already discussed your article with several medical colleagues. There are more people in to this than you realize."

Alyssa raised an eyebrow. "Wow, thank you, doctor." She smiled, and her eyes met the Vulcan's. She blinked a little at the images that she saw in her head. T'San had seen a lot of things. And then she noticed the slightly curled lips of the seemingly uptight Vulcan.

Gabriel took a drink from table as he made his third circuit of the room. He mentally ran through the details he'd picked up as he went. The size of the room, the number of people, entrances and exits. He noticed Captain Harrold Anderson was without his children, no real surprise after the attack earlier, but also no child he'd ever met would want to be at a gathering like this. In truth he wasn't too happy about it, he hated the politics of what should have been a relatively simple ceremony.

He also hated the fact he'd been unable to track the attacker at the time, too many people in the area to be able find any real leads. He shook his head and went over the details of the current situation again, he'd been caught by surprise far too many times recently.

He took a drink, "Hmm... not bad." He said to himself as he kept walking, hoping to lose himself in the crowd without looking like that was what he was doing.

He saw Alyssa talking to Lieutenant Commander T'San, recently transferred to Port Royale according to her file. He couldn't make out what they were talking about from this distance but he figured they were talking shop as both were Medical officers but he could be wrong. He turned away from them and took in the faces of the people around him. Mentally logging the names and faces he could and just the faces of those he hadn't been able to research. Researching the Federation visitors had been easy, but the Dragonians had been a different story.

Voices started to run together, becoming little more then noise, a low level rumble that filled the room. Using sound to predict anything would be impossible. He finished his drink and placed it on the table he'd took it from, without thinking from the spot he'd taken it.

Xalanth couldn't help but feel nervous as the scared mass of the killing machine stared directly at him with the same cold eyes that had followed him since he'd left the egg. " Dad." He said calmly.

The older dragonian said nothing as he coughed and took another breath from his mask. " Son." He finaly replied.

Harry wondered if Xalanth was going to introduce him to his father, or push the gathering forward a little. A lot of people were still on edge, after that scene. Luckily Xalanth's father was there to step in. "Hello Sir, name is Harry Anderson, Captain of the USS Shanghai." Said Harry, as he waited to see if Xalanth or his father responded.

Xalanth was clearly nervous and was grateful for the captain's interruption. His father's head snapped around to look at Harry. " Zigarth. First of the elite. I hope my zidinath has done my people proud and i apologize for that waste of atoms for sacring you're crew. " He said calmly.

"It's quite alright sir, that was one grand entrance." Harry said, as he looked Zigarth in the eyes. "And to answer you question, yes Xalanth has. He has earned the right to be first officer of the USS Shanghai." Said Harry hoping that Zigarth would be proud of Xalanth.

" And so he should. There was a reason he survived outside of the incubator as an egg. " The eldarly lizard said as he clasped his son's shoulder tightly.

" So your not??" Xalanth began before the elderly lizard began to laugh before his cofing retuned. As he slid the mask back over his face he gave his son a grin.

" Son you've followed you're own path. You left for the stars, stole the heart of an alien princess and the both of you have given the family two beautiful children. A father couldn't be prouder of his son." Zigarth said looking over and T'para and the children a look of warmth in his scared eyes.

" And you." Zigarth said as he looked at Harry. " You look after my grandsons family or i'll be having words." He said calmly as if the federation captain was a new recruit to his forces.

"I would be honored to look after your kin, your family." Harry said, with a humble tone in his voice.

The old lizard nodded though he said nothing. His eyes saying everything with a calm yet fixed expression.

While the Captain and Zigarth were talking Alex looked over to Avril. There was something relaxing and calming about the tone of Zigarth. Things seemed to be better now. He leaned closer to Avril. "You okay?" He asked, hoping she would say yes.

"I am, sorry if infringed on your personal space." Avril said in apologetic tone. She was not expecting to react so poorly. She was very nervous, but that was no excuse for her lack of professionalism.

"You do not have to apologize, its understandable. We were all a little jumpy from that. But I think we should move forward, and see if the Senator, will give us a chance to explore this place. After all, I think you said, you wanted to go shopping? Or was I mistaken?" Asked Alex. He was trying to get Avril's mind off, what had just happened.

"Your not mistaken, let's find out." Said Avril with a big grin, as she walked over to Lieutenant Commander Xalanth. "Sorry to bother you Commander, what do we do now? Is there more to the ceremony, or we free to explore this beautiful city?" Avril asked, waiting to hear what Xalanth had to say.

" Food and drink will be available at the temple of compassion in an hour and the yavarn dance should start an hour after that. Though feel free to explore the city the yarven dance can be seen from anywhere. Is there any chance of getting the crew some spending money. I don't think the traders will take federation credits. " he replied before he glanced at his father.

" I'm sure we can come to some arrangement. Though I'll ask your people to stay out of the armories, command tunnels and the incubators. "The special force's commander said calmly.

"We can barter with you sir, maybe we have things we can offer you, exchange for some currency." Harry said, as he looked to Zigarth, to see if they had a deal.

The elderly lizard produced a notebook from his pocket and pulled out a few pages covred in notes. " Special forces will be willing to exchange for the following. None of them should be against your federation laws to trade for." He said

Alex smiled and reached out for Avril's hand. "You heard the Dragonian, we have some free time to explore, I remember promising you a little trip to the store. I can not wait to explore this place with you." He said, as he looked to Avril, wondering if she would take his hand in front of everyone.
